Office Chair Side Repair

Admin October 10, 2026

The issue of side tilt in office chairs can be diagnosed and repaired through the following steps:

1. Check the condition of the wheels
Place the chair upright and upside down to observe whether the wheels make even contact with the ground. If the wheel feet are bent, deformed, or damaged (e.g., wheels are stuck or do not rotate smoothly), this can cause uneven force distribution and lead to chair tilt. In this case, purchase new wheels that match the original model and replace them, ensuring all wheels are at the same height and rotate freely.

2. Check the floor levelness
If the wheels are intact but the chair still tilts, confirm whether the floor where the chair is placed is level. Uneven floors (e.g., carpet wrinkles, floor joint gaps) can force the wheels to different heights, causing tilt issues. Try moving the chair to a hard, flat surface (e.g., tile or wood floor) for testing, or adjust the floor levelness.

3. Check the seat structure
If both the wheels and floor are normal, inspect whether the seat is loose or deformed. When the connecting screws between the seat and chair frame are loose, the seat may tilt due to uneven force distribution. In this case, use a screwdriver to tighten all connecting screws. If the seat itself is sunken or cracked from long-term use, replace it with a new one to avoid uneven force distribution due to structural damage.

4. Component replacement and lubrication
If the chair tilts due to damage to the base or wheel feet, check whether the wheel feet are deformed, broken, or have foreign objects (e.g., hair, debris) stuck in them. If the wheel feet are damaged, replace them with components of the same model. Spray silicone-based lubricant on the connection between the chair base and wheel feet to reduce friction. When reinstalling the wheel feet, ensure the clips are fully inserted into the sockets and test for smooth rotation in all directions to avoid tilt caused by sticking.

5. Balance test
After completing the above repairs, place the chair on a hard, flat surface and gently press on each corner to observe for wobbling. If tilt persists, it may be due to deformation of the internal springs or supports in the base (e.g., metal fatigue, plastic aging). In this case, contact a professional repair technician for handling to avoid further damage from disassembly.

Precautions: Wear gloves during the repair process to avoid cuts. If screw tightening or component replacement is involved, it is recommended to use original parts to ensure compatibility. Regularly clean the wheels and base to extend the chair's lifespan.
