Office Chair Shock Absorber Maintenance
Office chair shock absorber maintenance requires targeted measures based on the specific type of fault. Common problems and maintenance methods are as follows:

I. Installation and Adjustment of Adjustable Seat Shock Absorbers If you need to install or adjust an adjustable seat shock absorber, strictly follow the operating procedures:
- Locate the Installation Position: Determine the shock absorber installation point according to the chair design, ensuring it matches the seat cushion and chassis structure.
- Secure the Bottom Bracket: Use the matching screws to firmly connect the bracket to the chair legs or chassis to prevent loosening.
- Connect the Upper Structure: Align the top of the shock absorber with the seat cushion or backrest bracket and secure it with snaps or screws.
- Adjust the Shock Absorption Intensity: Some shock absorbers are equipped with knobs or levers. You can adjust the damping intensity by rotating or sliding them to adapt to different body weights or usage scenarios.
II. Maintenance of Pneumatic Lifter Faults If the chair experiences lift failure, automatic sinking, or stuttering and abnormal noises, it is mostly due to the aging and pressure leakage of the pneumatic lifter, and the lift cylinder needs to be replaced:
- Confirm the Fault: If pressing the lift handle yields no response or the chair continues to sink, it indicates that the internal seal of the cylinder has failed.
- Purchase Accessories: Choose products that match the size and load-bearing capacity of the original cylinder. Prioritize those with safety certification marks such as SGS and TUV to avoid the risk of explosion from inferior products.
- Remove the Old Cylinder: Turn the chair upside down, use a rubber mallet to tap the connection between the bottom of the cylinder and the chair legs, separate them, and then take out the old cylinder.
- Install the New Cylinder: Insert the new cylinder into the hole in the chair legs, ensure the top is aligned with the chassis, and press lightly until it is fixed by the snap.
III. Maintenance of Chassis or Pneumatic Rod Sideways Tilt If the chair tilts sideways or cannot be lifted, it may be due to deformation of the chassis or pneumatic rod, and disassembly and inspection are required:
- Prepare Tools: Rubber mallets, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc., to avoid damaging components with metal hammers.
- Disassembly Steps:
- Turn the chair upside down, remove the screws from the bottom tray, and separate the seat cushion from the chassis.
- Use a rubber mallet to tap the edge of the chassis to detach it from the pneumatic rod; if it is stuck, you can hold the chassis upside down with one hand and tap a specific position with the other hand.
- When disassembling the pneumatic rod, use the flat side of the hammer to tap the bottom to avoid directly hitting the rod body.
- Replace Faulty Parts: Check whether the chassis, pneumatic rod, and chair legs are deformed or damaged, replace the corresponding parts, and then reassemble them.
Maintenance Precautions: Cut off the power supply before operation (for electric chairs), and wear gloves to prevent scratches; if you lack experience, it is recommended to contact professional maintenance personnel or the manufacturer's after-sales service.
