Office Chair Self-Repair

Admin October 09, 2026

Office chair repairs can be carried out in a targeted manner according to different types of faults. Here are the specific methods:

Repair of the backrest gliding function of the Sihoo C500 second-generation premium chair: If the backrest gliding function fails, the back cover needs to be removed for inspection and repair. To do this, pry open the lower edge of the back cover, remove the five internal screws that secure it, and then separate the aluminum alloy cup holder. During this process, pay attention to the screw specifications and installation positions to avoid losing or misinstalling them.

Repair of leather executive chairs: For surface damage or minor wear on the back of the leather, a two-step approach is required. First, clean the damaged area with a multi-purpose cleaner to remove stains and aged leather. Then, choose a repair method based on the degree of wear: for minor wear, directly fill it in with leather repair paste; for severe damage, cut a patch of leather of the same material, adhere it with special glue, and then sand it smooth.

Faults in the base or gas lift of office ergonomic chairs/gaming chairs:

  • Base faults: Turn the chair upside down and gently tap the edge of the base with a rubber mallet to separate it. If using an iron hammer, pad it with a towel to protect the paint surface and avoid deformation from the tapping.
  • Gas lift faults: After turning the chair upside down, use the flat side of a hammer to gently tap the bottom of the gas lift (avoiding the middle button) to release the internal gas or reset the components. When replacing parts, prioritize products with SGS or TUV certification to ensure safety.
  • Wheel faults: Simply pull hard to remove them. When installing new wheels, align them with the slots and push them in until you hear a 'click'.

Repair of sinking office chairs:

  • Method 1: Hose clamp fixation: Slide down the plastic skirt at the bottom of the chair to expose the gas cylinder and adjust it to the appropriate height. Wrap a hose clamp around the gas cylinder and tighten it. You can increase friction by wrapping rubber tape around the gas cylinder surface or lightly sanding it to prevent it from sinking again.
  • Method 2: PVC pipe reinforcement: Measure the diameter of the gas cylinder and its length at the desired height. Purchase a matching PVC pipe and cut it in half lengthwise. Place the PVC pipe over the gas cylinder and secure it with tape or zip ties to physically prevent the chair from sinking. This method is suitable for cases where the gas cylinder is completely non-functional.

When performing repairs, pay attention to safety and avoid using excessive force that could further damage the components. If dealing with high-pressure components such as gas lifts, it is recommended to wear safety goggles and gloves.
