Office Chair Seating

Admin October 10, 2026

Office chairs are chairs equipped for convenience in daily work and social activities, with computer chairs being a type of office chair. Attention should be paid to the quality issues of some office chairs.

Definition and Classification of Office Chairs

Office chairs can be classified into narrow and broad categories. In a narrow sense, they refer to backrest chairs used for desk work in a sitting position. In a broad sense, they cover various types such as executive chairs and staff chairs. These chairs aim to meet people's needs for a comfortable sitting posture in different work scenarios and provide convenience for work.

Characteristics of Computer Chairs

Computer chairs are seats specifically designed for office and study scenarios and fall within the category of office chairs. They are designed with ergonomics to alleviate fatigue from prolonged sitting and are mainly divided into types such as work chairs, student chairs, and mid-back chairs. From a functional perspective, they can be classified into ordinary computer chairs and ergonomic computer chairs. Ergonomic computer chairs have significant advantages. Their headrests, armrests, backrests, and other parts are adjustable, and they have lifting functions. The length and width of the seat cushions and the height of the chairs can be customized. In addition, they are equipped with thickened explosion-proof steel plates, and the gas springs have passed SGS international certification. They can better fit the back, effectively relieve spinal fatigue, and provide users with a healthier and more comfortable sitting experience.

Quality Issues of Office Chairs

Some office chairs have potential quality hazards. For example, on March 2, 2023, the United States and Canada initiated a recall of office chairs made in China due to the risk of the backrest breaking, which posed a falling hazard. On September 30, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation found that 15 batches of products failed the national supervision and inspection of office chairs, with stability issues being particularly prominent. On January 16, 2025, the United States initiated a recall of WorkPro Momentum office chairs made in China because the bolts might fail, posing a falling hazard. These quality issues remind consumers to pay attention to the quality certification and safety performance of products when purchasing office chairs to avoid potential safety hazards caused by using unqualified products.
