Office Chair Seat Specifications

Admin October 09, 2026

Office chair seat specifications mainly include three aspects: seat height, seat width, and seat depth:

Seat height: Generally ranges from 40 to 50 centimeters, and it is best to have an adjustable function to accommodate the needs of people of different heights. When adjusted so that both feet are flat on the ground and the thighs are parallel to the ground, the human body will be in a relatively comfortable state. In general chairs, the seat height for hard surfaces is usually between 40 and 44 centimeters. Due to material characteristics, soft surfaces can be slightly higher, reaching 46 centimeters. From the perspective of comfortable office work, it is recommended to adjust the office chair seat height to 40 - 44 centimeters. This allows both feet to be firmly planted on the ground with the knees bent at a right angle, conforming to ergonomic principles. It helps reduce pressure on the legs and waist, and is less likely to cause fatigue even after long-term use.

Seat width: Usually ranges from 45 to 55 centimeters. This size range should be able to accommodate the buttocks while leaving some space to avoid a feeling of crowding. If the seat width is too narrow, the buttocks will be squeezed, leading to poor blood circulation and affecting comfort. On the other hand, if the seat width is too wide, it will cause the person to sway from side to side while sitting, lacking stability. The seat width of general chairs should be at least 32 centimeters to meet basic usage requirements. In cases where the workstation space is particularly compact, a seat width of 40 centimeters may be more flexible, ensuring a certain level of comfort while saving space.

Seat depth: Approximately ranges from 40 to 50 centimeters. An appropriate seat depth should ensure that the buttocks can be fully seated and the back of the knees are not compressed. The seat depth must not exceed the length of the thighs; otherwise, the back of the knees will be uncomfortably pressed, affecting normal leg movement. Generally, a seat depth of 38 - 42 centimeters is considered reasonable. For people who are petite or thin, a depth of 40 centimeters is just right, leaving a space of two or three fingers between the knees and the edge of the seat, providing good support for the legs. For those with a more robust build, choosing a seat depth of 45 centimeters will be more comfortable, preventing the thighs from hanging in the air and reducing fatigue. In addition, the seat depth of office chairs can be flexibly adjusted between 34 and 54 centimeters to meet the needs of different users. Auditorium chairs, due to different usage scenarios and requirements, generally have a seat depth of 400 - 450 mm.
