Office Chair Seat Replacement

Admin October 09, 2026

The methods for replacing office chair seats vary depending on the type of chair, mainly divided into two cases: regular office chairs and executive chairs.

Regular Office Chair Seat Replacement

For regular office chairs, such as common dining chairs, if the seat panel is of poor quality or damaged, you can purchase a solid wood panel for replacement. The specific steps are as follows:

  • Prepare tools and materials: You need to prepare tools and materials such as a screwdriver and a solid wood panel. When choosing a solid wood panel, pay attention to its size and quality to ensure it meets usage requirements.
  • Remove the old seat panel: Use a screwdriver to remove the screws on the old seat panel and take off the old panel. During the disassembly process, be sure to keep small parts like screws to avoid losing them.
  • Trim the new solid wood panel: Trim the new solid wood panel according to the size of the old panel to ensure that the new panel matches the overall size of the chair. After trimming, drill holes in the new panel. The positions and number of holes should be the same as those on the old panel's screw holes.
  • Install the new seat panel: Place the trimmed new solid wood panel on the chair and fix it with screws. During the installation process, pay attention to the tightness of the screws to ensure that the seat panel is firmly installed.

Executive Chair Seat Replacement

When the base of an executive chair is aged or damaged, it can be disassembled and replaced according to the following steps:

  • Preparation: Prepare tools such as a rubber mallet and a screwdriver. Ensure that the work area is spacious and well-lit. Disconnect the power supply and wear gloves to ensure operational safety.
  • Remove the seat cushion: Step on the chair feet and press the lift handle. Remove the seat cushion by shaking or tapping the connection between the seat cushion and the gas lift.
  • Separate the base steel ring from the gas lift: Turn the chair over and gently tap the base steel ring with a rubber mallet to separate it from the gas lift.
  • Disassemble the upper seat: Remove the screws of the upper seat and separate the upper seat from the gas lift by tapping or stepping on it. If the gas lift is tightly connected, you can apply some lubricating oil and let it sit for a while before disassembly, which will make the disassembly process smoother.
