Office Chair Seat Peeling
Admin October 10, 2026
The appropriate treatment for peeling on an office chair seat can be selected based on the size of the peeling area and the extent of the damage, as follows:

Small-area peeling (diameter less than 3 cm)
If the peeling area is small, you can use leather repair paste or acrylic resin for self-repair. Operating steps:
- Clean the surface: Use a soft cloth or brush to remove dust and stains from the peeling area, ensuring the surface is dry and flat.
- Apply the repair material: Evenly apply the leather repair paste or acrylic resin to the peeling spot, with a thickness sufficient to fully cover the damaged area.
- Sand and polish: After the material dries, gently sand the repaired area with fine sandpaper to make it level with the surrounding leather surface; finally, use a special leather polish to enhance the gloss and wear resistance.
Medium-area peeling (diameter between 3 and 10 cm)
If the peeling area is larger but does not exceed 10 cm, you can use a leather patch or non-woven fabric padding for repair. Operating steps:
- Select a leather patch: Choose a leather patch with a color close to that of the original chair leather and attach it to the peeling spot, pressing it firmly with a roller to ensure a tight fit; for the edges, you can use a hairdryer to heat the adhesive on the back to enhance the bonding strength.
- Use non-woven fabric padding for support: If there is insufficient support below the peeling spot, cut the non-woven fabric to an appropriate size, pad it below the peeling spot as support, and then attach the leather patch as described above.
Large-area peeling
If the peeling area exceeds 10 cm, you need to choose from the following methods based on your budget and needs:
- Custom-made seat cover: An economical choice. Linen material has good breathability, and suede material is soft and comfortable. You can customize it according to your personal preferences and budget.
- Refurbishment and replacement: When the budget is sufficient, you can contact a professional shop for refurbishment and replacement, retaining the original stitching process, with almost no traces after repair.
- Self-adhesive leather repair: Tear off the adhesive paper on the back of the self-adhesive leather, flatten it and attach it to the peeling spot, and cut it according to your needs.
- Repurpose idle fabric: Measure the diameter of the chair seat, fold the fabric twice, draw a semi-circular sector and cut out a complete circle, then cut long strips of fabric for stitching, thread a rope through it, and put it on the chair seat.
Other precautions
- Minor wear or stains: Gently wipe clean with a damp soft cloth; for stubborn stains, you can spray a cleaner and then wipe, avoiding the use of harsh cleaners.
- Repair of cracks or peeling: If the leather surface is cracked, you can use transparent glue for repair. After cleaning the surface, apply the glue, place a heavy object to flatten it, and wait for it to dry; the color of the glue should be close to that of the chair.
- Treatment of severe damage: If the leather surface is severely damaged, it is recommended to use a professional repair agent. When purchasing, pay attention to matching the color and texture, and use an appropriate amount.
