Office Chair Seat Extension
Office chair seat extension can be achieved primarily through two methods: backrest extension and seat height adjustment. The specific methods are as follows:

I. Backrest Extension
By installing a backrest extension device, the vertical support range of the seat can be expanded to accommodate different heights or sitting postures.
Mechanical Extension Device
- Principle: Adjust the height and angle of the backrest by manually rotating or pulling mechanical components (such as buckles or slide rails).
- Features: Simple structure, intuitive operation, and low maintenance costs; however, the adjustment precision is limited, requiring repeated manual adjustments.
- Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for users with a limited budget and low adjustment frequency requirements.
Pneumatic/Hydraulic Extension Device
- Principle: Utilize a cylinder or hydraulic system to control the lifting and tilting angle of the backrest via buttons or handles.
- Features: The adjustment process is smooth and effortless, supporting multi-position precise locking; however, the cost is higher, and regular inspection of the seal is required to prevent air/fluid leakage.
- Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for high-end office environments that require frequent adjustments or pursue comfort.
II. Seat Height Adjustment
Improve the overall height of the seat through physical elevation or structural modification to enhance leg support and sitting comfort.
Using Height-Increasing Foot Pads
- Plastic/Rubber Foot Pads: Directly placed on the bottom of the chair legs, suitable for slight elevation (2-5 cm), low cost, and easy installation; however, the load-bearing capacity is limited, and long-term use may cause deformation.
- Wooden/Metal Blocks: Fixed to the chair legs with screws, providing stronger stability and supporting greater elevation (over 10 cm); it is necessary to ensure that the thickness of the blocks matches the diameter of the chair legs to avoid tipping due to a shifted center of gravity.
Replacing Lifting Components
- Pneumatic Rod Extension: Replace the original chair's pneumatic rod to increase the height by 5-15 cm; ensure compatibility between the extension rod and the original chair model; professional tools are required for installation, and it is recommended to contact after-sales service or a repair technician for operation.
- Extended Chair Column: Some office chairs support replacing with a longer chair column (such as a metal five-star base); check the interface size and load-bearing capacity; after modification, test the stability to prevent shaking.
Thickened Seat Cushion
- Memory Foam/High-Density Sponge Cushion: Indirectly increase the seat height by adding cushion thickness (3-8 cm), suitable for temporary adjustments or short-term use; choose breathable materials to avoid heat and sagging caused by long-term use.
Precautions: Before adjustment, measure the original dimensions of the seat to ensure that the modified dimensions comply with ergonomic standards (such as the knees forming a 90ยฐ angle with the ground); if structural modification is involved, it is recommended to prioritize original factory parts or consult professionals to ensure safety.
