Office Chair Seat Disassembly

Admin October 22, 2026

The disassembly of an office chair seat can be carried out according to the following steps:

First, separating the backrest is the initial step. In most office chairs, the backrest and the seat cushion are connected via buckles or screws. If it's a buckle connection, locate the buckle position, gently apply upward or outward force to make the buckle disengage, and you can then initially separate the backrest from the seat cushion. If it's a screw connection, you'll need to use an appropriate screwdriver to unscrew each screw connecting the backrest and the seat cushion one by one. During the screw-unscrewing process, be sure to keep the screws safe to avoid losing them. After completing the screw removal, the backrest can be separated from the seat cushion.

Next, proceed with the base disassembly. Raise the pneumatic rod to its highest position. This step is to create enough space between the base and the pneumatic rod for easier subsequent disassembly. Then, firmly grasp the seat cushion with one hand and press the lift lever with the other hand while gently shaking the seat cushion several times. During the shaking process, the connection between the base and the pneumatic rod will gradually loosen. Continue the operation until you can smoothly remove the base from the pneumatic rod.

Finally, deal with other parts. For the other parts of the office chair, follow the installation order and loosen the corresponding screws. However, there are two relatively difficult parts to disassemble. First, the separation of the seat and the gas rod: Since they are tightly connected, you may need to use some auxiliary tools, such as a rubber mallet, to gently tap the connection point between the seat and the gas rod to loosen the connection, and then try to separate them. Second, the separation of the gas rod and the chair legs: You can first try to shake them by hand to see if they loosen. If not, you can also use tools like a wrench, adjust the force appropriately, and loosen the connecting screws or buckles to achieve separation. Throughout the entire disassembly process, be sure to apply an appropriate amount of force to avoid damaging the components of the office chair due to excessive force.
