Office Chair Seat Assembly

Admin October 09, 2026

The assembly steps for an office chair seat are as follows:

  1. Install the Seat Cushion and Tray First, remove the seat cushion of the office chair and observe its bottom structure. Usually, you will find 2 long holes and 2 short holes, which are used to secure the tray. Next, take out the tray assembly and align it with the seat cushion, ensuring the holes match perfectly. Use 4 thick screws (typically provided with the chair accessories) to pass through the holes and screw them upwards from the bottom of the seat cushion into the corresponding threaded holes in the tray. Make sure the screws are tightened until there is no looseness to prevent the seat cushion from wobbling or falling off during subsequent use due to unstable fixation.

  2. Connect the Seat to the Gas Lift After installing the seat cushion and tray, you need to connect the entire seat to the gas lift. The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the height of the office chair and is usually located at the center of the chair base. Align the mounting hole at the bottom of the seat with the top of the gas lift and press down vertically with force to ensure the connection between the seat and the gas lift is fully secured. Some gas lifts may be designed with a snap-fit or threaded structure, and you need to adjust the installation method according to the specific model: for a snap-fit type, listen for a "click" sound to confirm it is secured; for a threaded type, rotate the seat clockwise until it can no longer turn.

  3. Check Stability and Functionality After assembly, perform a stability test. First, gently shake the seat to check if the connections between the tray and the seat cushion, and between the seat and the gas lift are firm, with no abnormal looseness or strange noises. Then, test the functionality of the gas lift by pressing down on the seat while sitting to observe if the chair can move up and down smoothly without any stuttering or tilting. If you find that the gas lift does not move up and down flexibly, it may be due to incomplete securing during installation or an internal fault in the gas lift. You need to recheck the connections or contact after-sales service for handling.

Precautions:

  • Avoid using excessive force during assembly, especially when connecting the gas lift, as overexertion may damage the components.
  • If any screws or accessories are missing, contact the merchant promptly for replacements. Do not use screws of other specifications as substitutes to avoid affecting the structural strength.
  • After assembly, it is advisable to regularly check the tightness of the screws, especially after long-term use, to prevent them from loosening due to vibrations.
