Office Chair Screw Locking
When locking screws for office chairs, it is necessary to select the appropriate screw type and installation method based on the material and structure, which can be divided into the following three categories:

1. Wood screws: Suitable for wooden structures
Wood screws are specifically designed for wooden materials such as solid wood or plywood. Their deep and sharp threads can effectively embed into wood fibers. Common diameter ranges are 3-6mm, with lengths of 20-50mm. When installing, pre-drilling is required (the hole diameter should be slightly smaller than the screw diameter) to prevent wood cracking. For example, at the connection between the legs and the seat plate of a solid wood chair, wood screws with a diameter of 4mm and a length of 30mm are usually used, which are screwed in after pre-drilling. These screws are low-cost but have limited strength and are only suitable for light-load scenarios.
2. Self-tapping screws: Suitable for plastic or thin metal structures
Self-tapping screws have a built-in drill bit structure at the tail, allowing them to be screwed directly into the material without pre-drilling, resulting in high installation efficiency. Common specifications are M4-M6 (diameter) and 10-40mm (length), with materials mostly being carbon steel or stainless steel. For example, at the connection between the backrest and the seat plate of a plastic chair, M5ร25mm self-tapping screws are often used, which are quickly fixed with an electric screwdriver. These screws are suitable for structures that require frequent disassembly or rapid assembly, but over-tightening may cause plastic parts to crack, so torque control is necessary.
3. Machine screws (bolts): Suitable for high-strength metal structures
Machine screws need to be used in conjunction with nuts, achieving a firm connection through thread engagement. Common specifications are M5-M8 (diameter) and 15-50mm (length), with strength grades ranging from 4.8 (for ordinary loads) to 8.8 (for high loads). For example, at the connection between the crossbeam and the upright of a metal chair frame, M6ร30mm 8.8-grade bolts are often used, paired with lock nuts to ensure structural stability. These screws are suitable for scenarios that require withstanding large loads or are detachable, but installation requires tools such as wrenches, making the operation relatively complex.
Application of Automation Equipment
In enterprise production, automatic screw-locking machines for office chairs/computer chairs can significantly improve efficiency. These machines automatically feed screws through robotic arms or vibrating trays and complete precise locking with electric screwdrivers. A single machine can replace 2-3 workers and can avoid problems such as missed locking and screw slippage caused by manual operations. For example, a certain model of automatic screw-locking machine can install a screw in 3 seconds, making it suitable for mass production scenarios.
