Office Chair Scratches

Admin October 08, 2026

The repair of scratches on office chairs requires selecting appropriate methods based on the type and material of the scratches, as follows:

I. Repair of Scratches on Chair Surfaces

  1. Ordinary Surface Scratches If the scratches are shallow and not prominent, a touch-up pen that matches the color of the chair can be used to evenly apply paint to the damaged area. This method is suitable for office chairs of most materials, is simple to operate, and has a low cost.

  2. Scratches on Wood-Grain Furniture

    • Light-Colored Furniture: Scrape the wax into powder, evenly sprinkle it on the scratches, heat it with a heat source (such as a hairdryer) to melt the wax, and then scrape off the excess wax after it cools down.
    • Dark Scratches: Mash the flesh of walnuts, hickory nuts, or Brazilian nuts and repeatedly rub it along the scratches. The oil in the flesh can darken the color of the scratches.
    • Small Scratches on Rosewood Furniture: If the wood layer is not damaged, first fill the scratches with furniture repair crayons and pigments, and then apply a thin layer of nail polish for protection.
    • Scratches on Walnut Furniture: Cut a lemon and drip the juice on the scratches. After letting it sit for a while, quickly dry it with a soft cloth soaked in hot water.

II. Repair of Black Scratches on Floors

  1. Toothpaste Wiping Method Apply toothpaste to the surface of a cloth, cover the scratched area, and repeatedly wipe it with a towel until the scratches are reduced. This method is suitable for minor black scratches, as the abrasives in the toothpaste can remove surface stains.

  2. Wood Piece Sanding Method Gently sand the scratches with a wood piece (such as the back of sandpaper), and then apply a layer of wax and wipe it evenly. Wood piece sanding can reduce secondary damage to the floor, and the wax layer can form a protective film.

III. Handling of the Problem of the Pneumatic Rod Scratching the Floor

  1. Cause Analysis

    • Structural Misalignment: Design flaws in the base (such as a circular base that is too small) or a mismatch in the size of the tray can cause the metal part of the pneumatic rod to come into contact with the floor.
    • Installation Issues: The pneumatic rod is not accurately inserted into the card slot of the base, or the fixing screws are not tightened, resulting in displacement during use.
    • Aging and Sinking: The internal nitrogen in the pneumatic rod leaks, reducing its supporting force, and the bottom of the metal tube sinks and scratches the floor.
  2. Solutions

    • Purchase Certified Products: Choose pneumatic rods with SGS or BIFMA certification marks. These products have undergone 500,000 lifting and lowering tests and are equipped with explosion-proof steel plates.
    • Lay Anti-Scratch Pads: Place transparent anti-scratch pads made of nylon material on the floor to reduce direct friction between the chair components and the floor.
    • Regular Inspection and Maintenance: If the pneumatic rod makes abnormal noises or has scratches, contact after-sales service in a timely manner to replace the components and avoid safety hazards.
