Sawing of Office Chairs
Admin October 14, 2026
When sawing office chairs, it is necessary to select appropriate tools and operation methods according to the material.

Sawing of Wooden Office Chairs
If the office chair is made of wood, a woodworking handsaw can be used for the operation.
- Preparation: Select a woodworking handsaw suitable for cutting wood, with saw teeth shapes and arrangements that match the characteristics of the wood. Prepare measuring and marking tools such as a tape measure, pencil, and set square, as well as clamps like a bench vise or C-clamp to fix the chair and prevent movement during sawing. Also, take safety precautions by wearing goggles to prevent wood chips from flying into the eyes, gloves to protect the hands, and long-sleeved clothing and long pants to avoid exposing the skin.
- Measurement and Marking: Use a tape measure to measure the dimensions of the part to be sawed, ensuring the length meets the requirements. Use a pencil and set square to clearly and accurately mark the sawing line on the chair, providing guidance for subsequent cutting.
- Fixing the Chair: Place the chair on a stable workbench and fix it firmly with clamps. If using a bench vise, clamp a part of the chair in the vise jaws; if using a C-clamp, clamp the clamp onto the edge of the chair to ensure the chair does not shake during sawing.
- Sawing Operation: Hold the handle of the handsaw with the right hand and the front end of the saw body with the left hand, maintaining stability and applying moderate force. When starting to saw, gently place the saw teeth on the marked line and use the thumb of the left hand to guide, applying light force. During sawing, push the handsaw forward at a uniform speed and with appropriate pressure, keeping the saw teeth perpendicular to the marked line, adjusting the direction in a timely manner, and pulling the saw back after each forward movement to clear the wood chips.
- Finishing Work: Slow down and reduce the force as you approach completion to prevent over-sawing. After sawing is complete, use sandpaper or a file to polish the sawed surface to make it smooth and flat.
Sawing of Metal Office Chairs
If the office chair is made of metal, due to its high hardness, it is laborious to operate with a handsaw, and electric tools can be selected.
- Angle Grinder: Wear protective equipment such as goggles and gloves, fix the chair leg well, install an appropriate cutting disc, start the angle grinder, and let the cutting disc smoothly contact the marked position on the chair leg and cut slowly along the line.
- Jigsaw: For those seeking high precision and a smooth saw cut, especially for chair legs made of precious materials, a jigsaw is a good choice. After firmly placing the chair leg, adjust the depth and speed of the jigsaw, and push it forward evenly along the marked line to obtain an accurate and smooth saw cut.
