Office Chair Sampling Inspection Techniques
Admin October 19, 2026
The following techniques can be referenced for office chair sampling inspections, covering key aspects such as sampling, testing, and determination rules:

I. Sampling Methods
- Principle of Randomness: Random sampling is employed to select samples from the products to be sold by the sampled producers or sellers, ensuring sample representativeness. Random numbers can be generated using tools such as random number tables or computer software to avoid human intervention.
- Sample Quantity: For each batch of products, 4 samples are drawn, with 3 serving as test samples and 1 as a reserve sample to meet the needs of retesting or supplementary testing.
II. Test Items and Methods
- Basic Safety and Performance Testing:
- Formaldehyde Emission, TVOC, Stability, Armrest Load, Drop, Seat Impact, Flame Retardancy, Base Static Load, Caster Wear: According to the standard QB/T 2280โ2016, sample 1 is tested for items ranging from formaldehyde emission to seat impact; sample 2 is tested for base static load and caster reciprocating wear; sample 3 is tested for basic safety to cycle life items.
- Material Safety: Formaldehyde content is detected using Gas Chromatography (GC), and heavy metal (such as lead and cadmium) content is detected using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) to ensure the materials are non-toxic.
- Structural and Durability Testing:
- Structural Stability: Static load testing (such as applying a fixed pressure to test load-bearing capacity) and dynamic load testing (such as simulating repeated sitting pressure to test compressive performance) are used to evaluate the impact resistance of office chairs.
- Durability: Abrasion resistance testing (such as caster rolling tests) and fatigue resistance testing (such as repeated seat lifting tests) simulate long-term usage scenarios to predict product lifespan.
- Ergonomic Performance Testing:
- Focus on testing whether seat height, backrest angle, armrest adjustment range, etc., comply with ergonomic design to ensure user comfort. For example, the backrest angle should support the natural spinal curve, and the armrest height should match the desktop to reduce shoulder fatigue.
III. Determination Rules
- Standard Basis: The core standard is QB/T 2280โ2016, supplemented by references to the manufacturer's stated quality requirements, group standards, or local standards. If the product's stated requirements are higher than the standard, they are used for determination; if they are lower than mandatory standards, the mandatory standards are enforced.
- Conformity Determination:
- All Conforming: When all test items meet the standards, it is determined as 'No non-conformities found'.
- Any Non-conforming: If any item fails to meet the standard, it is determined as 'Non-conforming'.
- Handling of Missing Stated Requirements: If the product does not state a mandatory standard item, it is determined according to the mandatory standard; if it does not state a recommended standard item, that item is not included in the determination.
By following these techniques, office chair sampling inspections can be systematized to ensure product quality meets safety, durability, and ergonomic requirements, providing reliable protection for consumers.
