Office Chair Rotation Test
The office chair rotation test is a standardized testing process that uses professional equipment to simulate long-term usage scenarios and evaluate the durability and reliability of the rotation mechanism.

Purpose and Core Significance of the Experiment
The experiment aims to detect the performance stability of the office chair rotation mechanism during long-term use, focusing on identifying potential issues such as base loosening, bearing wear, and rotational stuttering. By simulating users' daily rotational behaviors, it verifies whether the product can meet the designed lifespan requirements and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards (such as the American BIFMA and Chinese QB/T 2922-2007).
Experimental Equipment and Parameter Design
The experiment relies on an office chair rotation life testing machine, with core parameters including:
- Turntable diameter: 700mm to 770mm, suitable for different sizes of office chair bases;
- Test speed: Adjustable range, such as 6 rotations per minute, to simulate user rotation frequency;
- Seat height: Adjustable from 350mm to 600mm, covering most usage scenarios;
- Applied load: Simulates user weight through a 225-pound weight, testing the structural load-bearing capacity.
The equipment design strictly adheres to international standards, ensuring industry-recognized test results.
Experimental Method and Procedure
- Fix the test sample: Secure the office chair casters to the turntable of the testing machine and load the specified weight onto the seat;
- Set parameters: Use the control panel to set the rotation speed and cycle count (up to 999,999 cycles);
- Execute the test: Start the equipment to simulate alternating clockwise and counterclockwise rotations (e.g., each cycle includes several clockwise and counterclockwise rotations), with the system automatically recording data;
- Analyze results: Visually inspect the rotation mechanism for damage (such as cracks or deformation) and evaluate durability in conjunction with the data report.
Experimental Items and Evaluation Indicators
- Rotation function effectiveness: After testing, the seat must be able to rotate smoothly through 360 degrees without jamming;
- Smoothness and abnormal noise: Detect whether there are abnormal noises, jerks, or vibrations during rotation;
- Structural integrity: Evaluate whether components such as the base and five-star foot connections are damaged;
- Clearance and looseness: Measure harmful clearance or looseness in rotating components due to wear;
- Operating force change: Compare the torque required to initiate rotation before and after testing to determine if the friction coefficient has significantly increased.
Experimental Application Scenarios
- Manufacturer quality control: Batch test rotation mechanisms to screen out non-conforming products and optimize design processes;
- Third-party testing and certification: Support product export certification (such as EU EN 1335) to meet international market access requirements;
- R&D improvement basis: Use test data feedback to guide material selection and structural design, enhancing product competitiveness.
