Office Chair Right Side Lower

Admin October 22, 2026

The right side of the office chair being lower may be caused by various reasons, and you can troubleshoot and resolve the issue by following these steps:

First, check the chair's structural components, focusing on key parts such as the gas lift and chassis screws. If these components are loose or damaged, it can lead to uneven force distribution across the chair, resulting in the right side being lower. For example, a loose connection of the gas lift can cause the chair to shift during height adjustment; loose chassis screws can affect the chair's stability. Tighten any loose components promptly and replace damaged ones as needed.

Second, adjust the chair's foot pads. The chair's tilt may be due to inconsistent foot pad heights. Try adjusting the chair's foot pads to ensure all four feet rest evenly on the ground, eliminating the tilt. Some chair foot pads are adjustable, allowing you to change their height by rotating or pressing them.

Third, check the ground condition. Move the chair to different locations in the room. If the chair becomes stable in another spot, it indicates that the original ground surface was uneven. You can either move the chair to a different location or place something under the chair legs to level it, such as using specialized adjustable-height furniture foot pads (usually plastic knob-type) or small hard shims (wooden or plastic pieces).

Additionally, check the wheels and their surroundings. For swivel chairs, check if the wheels are uneven. Over time, with uneven pressure, the wheels may wear differently, leading to uneven heights. Also, if there is a carpet, small debris such as metal screws or toy parts may get stuck in the wheels, hindering their movement. Use a stiff brush to clean around the wheels.

You also need to check the gas lift rod. If the gas lift rod is tilted, it requires special attention. Place the chair upside down on a soft pad, use an adjustable wrench to loosen the base fixing nut, and remove the gas lift rod to check for oil stains on its surface. A damaged seal ring can cause slow air leakage. When testing the verticality of the gas lift rod, place it on a glass tabletop to see if it fits perfectly. When replacing a new gas lift rod, pay attention to safety certification marks, as poor-quality products pose a risk of explosion.

Finally, if the chair does not have left-right height adjustment functionality and the height difference is significant, it is likely that there is a quality issue with the chair itself or a deviation occurred during the manufacturing and assembly process. It is recommended to contact after-sales service for professional inspection and repair to determine if the chair can be adjusted to a normal state or replaced. If none of the above methods resolve the issue, you can also contact the chair manufacturer or a professional repair technician for further inspection and repair.
