Office Chair - Riding Chair
The Riding Chair (Stylechair) is an innovative seating solution developed by Norwegian designer Peter Opsvik in collaboration with the Hร G brand. Its core design inspiration comes from equestrian sports, featuring a saddle-shaped seat cushion and an adjustable forward-tilting structure aimed at supporting human health and work efficiency through dynamic sitting postures.

Design Features and Functions
The hallmark of the Riding Chair is its saddle-shaped seat cushion, whose curved structure mimics the form of a saddle, naturally conforming to the curves of the human buttocks, distributing pressure, and reducing fatigue from prolonged sitting. The chair employs a forward-tilting structure, allowing users to sit in various postures, including forward-leaning, backward-reclining, or side-sitting. This design breaks away from the reliance on fixed sitting postures in traditional chairs and encourages natural body movement. Additionally, the Riding Chair is equipped with height and tilt angle adjustment functions, enabling users to flexibly adjust seat parameters according to desk height (such as standing desks or regular office desks) or personal needs, adapting to different usage scenarios.
Design Philosophy and Health Benefits
The design philosophy of the Riding Chair emphasizes the diversity of sitting postures, believing that static sitting is the primary cause of muscle stiffness and spinal pressure. By supporting dynamic sitting postures, the chair promotes slight pelvic movement, core muscle engagement, and blood circulation, thereby reducing health risks associated with prolonged sitting (such as lumbar disc herniation and cervical spondylosis). Its design also takes into account the "active sitting" theory in ergonomics, which involves maintaining muscle activity through subtle body movements rather than complete stillness.
Honors and Suitable Scenarios
The Riding Chair has received the Red Dot Design Award and the iF German Industrial Design Award, recognizing its breakthroughs in functional innovation and aesthetic design. This chair is suitable for two main scenarios: first, standing work surfaces, where its forward-tilting structure helps users maintain a natural forward-leaning posture, reducing fatigue from standing; second, regular desk height environments, where height and tilt angle adjustments can be made to fit the needs of traditional office desks. Its design flexibility makes it a solution that balances health and efficiency in modern office spaces.
