Office Chair Research and Development Elements

Admin October 09, 2026

The key elements in the research and development of office chairs mainly include ergonomic design, material selection, functional design, safety control, spatial adaptability, environmental friendliness and durability, as well as modular design.

  1. Ergonomic Design: Consideration must be given to spinal support, such as adjustable lumbar support height and curvature to accommodate the lumbar curvature of people of different heights. The seat dimensions have a defined range, with a concave middle, an arc-shaped front edge, a certain degree of backward tilt, and a specified height adjustment range, while also leaving sufficient space for movement.
  2. Material Selection: Chair frames can be made of aluminum alloy, steel, or engineering plastics, each with different applicable scenarios. The fabric layer offers various options including breathable mesh, velvet, hemp, leather, anti-static, and elastic bands, with moisture permeability and abrasion resistance grades affecting the user experience. The density of the filling determines the softness or hardness perception of the seat and backrest, with high-density molded foam providing stable rebound performance.
  3. Functional Design: It should have multiple adjustable functions, such as adjustable height for office chairs, and adjustable headrests, armrests, and backrests for ergonomic computer chairs. Additional devices can also be installed, such as a keyboard and mouse operation table that can be flipped up and rotated beside the right armrest of the seat.
  4. Safety Control: Structural stability must be ensured, such as calculating the center of gravity position when a nap chair is tilted, repeatedly testing the lifting components, and having limit designs for folding mechanisms. Product manufacturing must pass certification tests for chair frame strength, foam density, and gas springs, with the gas springs of ergonomic computer chairs requiring SGS international certification.
  5. Spatial Adaptability: Due to the limited area of office spaces, the storage form of nap chairs is a key design consideration, with options such as sliding rail folding structures or combinations of seats and storage cabinets.
  6. Environmental Friendliness and Durability: The formaldehyde emission levels in panels and fabrics must be controlled within specified limits. The metal surface spraying process must meet the requirements for salt spray test duration, and long-term stressed connecting components should use high-strength bolts with anti-loosening nuts.
  7. Modular Design: Independent components such as headrests and armrests can be replaced individually, extending the overall service life of the product.
