Office Chair Replacement Base
Admin October 16, 2026
Replacing the base of an office chair can be done in two main steps: removing the old base and installing the new one. Here are the specific operations:

Removing the Old Base
- Prepare Tools: Get a hammer, preferably a rubber hammer. If you don't have one, a regular hammer can be used as an alternative. A rubber hammer reduces damage to the chair when striking. If using a regular iron hammer, prepare a towel to place at the striking area to prevent scratching the paint.
- Separate the Seat Cushion from the Base: Turn the office chair upside down and place it on the ground. Locate the screws that secure the bottom tray and use an appropriate screwdriver to remove them one by one, separating the seat cushion from the base. Be sure to keep the removed screws safe to avoid losing them for the subsequent installation of the new base.
- Disassemble the Base: Hold the office chair upside down with one hand and strike specific positions on the base with the prepared hammer. Strike with moderate force to avoid damaging other parts of the chair due to excessive force. If you don't have a rubber hammer, make sure to pad the iron hammer well with a towel. After striking several times, the base will gradually loosen and separate from the rest of the chair.
Installing the New Base
- Clean the Base Mount: Before installing the new base, clean the dust and rust at the connection position of the base mount. You can use a clean cloth or a small brush for cleaning to ensure that the surface of the base mount is clean and flat. This is beneficial for the installation and fixation of the new base and can also ensure stability after installation.
- Align and Install Precisely: Match the new base precisely with the base mount to ensure that all the installation holes are aligned. Be careful during the installation process to avoid colliding or scratching the new base. After placing the new base in the appropriate position, use the previously removed screws or other suitable fixing accessories for preliminary fixation.
- Calibrate the Verticality and Tighten: After installation, repeatedly calibrate the verticality of the new base to ensure that the office chair remains stable during normal use and does not tilt or wobble. Once calibrated correctly, use a tool to tighten the fixing accessories to firmly connect the new base with the base mount.
