Office Chair Repair Wrench

Admin October 11, 2026

In office chair repair, wrenches are commonly used hardware tools, primarily for disassembling or installing screws and adjusting components, with Allen wrenches being the most commonly used.

Types of Wrenches and Their Applicable Scenarios

In office chair repair, the common type of wrench is the Allen wrench, which has a hexagonal recessed head design that matches the common Allen screws found on office chairs (such as the fixing screws for chair legs, height adjustment rods, and armrests). For example, when disassembling a stuck chair caster, two Allen wrenches can be inserted crosswise into the gap between the wheel and the base, tied into a lever structure with cable ties, and then used in conjunction with a screwdriver to pry and loosen the stuck component using the principle of leverage. Additionally, some office chairs' height adjustment rod screws and armrest fixing screws also require the use of Allen wrenches for tightening and loosening operations.

Composition of Repair Tool Sets

There are specialized repair tool sets available on the market, such as desk and chair automatic ratchet Allen wrench sets. These sets typically include multiple sizes of Allen wrenches (e.g., 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, etc.) to fit screws of different sizes. Some sets also come with other tools, such as screwdrivers and wrench extension rods, forming a complete repair tool chain to meet the diverse needs of office chair disassembly, assembly, and adjustment.

Precautions for Using Wrenches

  1. Size Matching: Before use, ensure that the wrench size matches the screw size to avoid slippage or damage to the screw head due to a mismatch.
  2. Operating Force: When disassembling stuck components, control the lever force to avoid excessive force that could deform the wrench or break the screw.
  3. Tool Maintenance: After use, clean any oil stains from the wrench surface and store it in a dry environment to prevent rusting and maintain accuracy.

By reasonably selecting the type of wrench, matching the size, and operating it in a standardized manner, office chair repair tasks can be completed efficiently, extending the lifespan of the furniture.
