Office Chair Repair Tray
Repairing an office chair tray requires selecting the appropriate method based on the type of fault, with the core idea being to resolve stability issues through tightening, replacing parts, or complete replacement. Here are specific repair solutions:

I. Repair Methods for a Wobbly Tray
1. Tighten Screws
After prolonged use, the connecting screws between the tray, seat cushion, and five-claw bracket may loosen due to vibration. Use a screwdriver or wrench to check and tighten all screws one by one, focusing on the connection points between the seat cushion and tray, and between the tray and gas lift. If the screw holes are stripped, wrap raw rubber tape around the screws to increase friction or replace them with larger screws.
2. Replace Worn Parts
Worn nylon slides or plastic clips can increase the play in the tray's movement. Purchase corresponding replacement parts, prioritizing materials with stronger wear resistance (such as thickened nylon). If the metal clips or plastic sleeves at the interface between the gas lift and tray are aged, replace them with metal clips or inner sleeves to prevent wobbling due to loss of elasticity.
3. Replace the Entire Tray
If the metal structure is severely deformed (such as bent tray edges or an enlarged center hole) or worn beyond repair, replace the tray with a new one. Universal trays start at around 6.36 yuan, while reinforced steel trays (with a thickness of โฅ3.0mm) offer better load-bearing capacity and are suitable for long-term use. Before replacement, measure the hole spacing (such as 14cm*17.5cm) and center hole diameter of the old tray, and take photos to consult with the merchant to ensure compatibility.
II. Solutions for Difficult Separation Between the Tray and Gas Lift
Turn the chair upside down and evenly tap the connection point between the bottom of the gas lift and the tray with a rubber mallet, avoiding direct tapping on the middle button of the gas lift (if the button is higher than the bottom of the gas lift, bypass it). If the connection is rusted, spray a loosening agent (such as WD-40) to assist in disassembly.
III. Preparation and Safe Operation Before Repair
Tool Preparation: Cross/flat-head screwdrivers, rubber mallet, adjustable wrench, cloth (for cleaning), and loosening agent for rusted screws.
Part Selection: Prioritize reinforced steel trays and confirm that the hole spacing and center hole diameter match.
Safe Operation: Lay a soft mat on a flat surface, wear protective gloves, and ensure the gas lift is at its lowest position to avoid accidental lifting during repair.
Notes: If the lifting function is abnormal (such as slow sinking), it may be due to gas leakage inside the gas lift, and a gas lift with SGS or TUV certification should be replaced. A gap of approximately 0.5mm between the gas lift and tray interface is normal and does not require treatment. Through systematic troubleshooting and targeted repairs, the stability of the chair can be restored.
