Office Chair Repair - Reclining Function
If the reclining function of your office chair is malfunctioning, you can refer to the following methods for troubleshooting and repair:

First, check whether the operating lever or button is locked. Some office chairs control the reclining function through an operating lever or button. If it is in the locked state, the reclining function will not work. In this case, try pulling the operating lever outward or pulling out the locking button to see if the reclining function is restored. If it still doesn't recline after unlocking, further inspection of other components is required.
Next, check for gas cylinder issues. The gas cylinder is the core component that supports the chair's reclining. If it is of poor quality or damaged after long-term use, it can lead to weak or complete loss of reclining ability. In this case, contact a professional repair technician or the chair manufacturer to replace a suitable gas cylinder and ensure it is installed in the correct direction and firmly fixed. Do not disassemble the gas cylinder by yourself to avoid the risk of high-pressure gas leakage.
Loose connections at the base are also a common cause. Check whether the connecting screws between the base and the chair body are loose or have fallen out. Use a screwdriver or wrench to tighten the screws one by one. If you find that the nuts are stripped or components are damaged (such as cracks in the base), replace the corresponding parts in a timely manner to avoid abnormal reclining function or safety hazards due to structural instability.
The malfunction of the reclining adjustment device requires special attention. If the adjustment handle or button is damaged (such as the button not rebounding or the handle getting stuck during rotation), try cleaning the internal debris or replacing the spring. If it still cannot be repaired after cleaning, replace the adjustment device with a new one. For some chairs, the adjustment device is integrated inside the base, and disassembling the base for repair is required. It is recommended to have this done by a professional.
Finally, observe whether the overall structure of the chair is deformed. Long-term use or external impacts can cause deformation problems such as a bent backrest or a twisted base. Minor deformations can be gradually corrected with tools (such as pliers or wrenches). If the deformation is severe (such as an angle deviation between the backrest and the base of more than 10ยฐ), replace the deformed parts to avoid affecting the reclining function and using safety.
If none of the above methods can solve the problem, it is advisable to contact the chair manufacturer or a professional repair agency to avoid secondary damage caused by improper operation.
