Office Chair Repair Guide

Office chair repair methods can be divided into the following situations based on different problems:

Repairing a Sinking Office Chair If an office chair continues to sink due to cylinder failure, two methods can be used to solve the problem. Method 1: Using a Hose Clamp - First, slide down the plastic skirt of the chair to expose the metal cylinder. After adjusting the chair to the desired height, wrap a hose clamp around the surface of the cylinder. Enhance friction by wrapping rubber bands or sanding the outer wall of the cylinder. Finally, tighten the clamp and test the stability of the chair. Method 2: Using PVC Pipe - Measure the diameter and length of the cylinder, select a PVC pipe with an inner diameter slightly smaller than that of the cylinder, and saw the pipe lengthwise. Place the pipe over the cylinder, using the elasticity of the pipe to fix the height of the chair, ensuring a tight fit between the pipe and the cylinder.

Repairing an Office Chair Tilted to One Side Chair tilting is often caused by damaged wheels or a loose base structure. Step 1: Check the Wheels - Observe whether the wheels are worn, broken, or of inconsistent height. When replacing damaged wheels, choose models that match the size of the original wheels. Step 2: Lubricate the Base - Apply silicone-based lubricant to the connection sockets between the chair base and the wheels to reduce friction between metal parts. Step 3: Reinstall the Wheels - Use a rubber mallet to gently tap the casters into the sockets to ensure they are fully seated. Finally, Test the Chair - Push the chair to see if it returns to a level position and check for cracks or deformation at the seat plate connections.

Repairing an Office Chair with a Backrest That Cannot Stay Upright or Be Adjusted Backrest failures are usually related to the hydraulic system or transmission components. First, Check the Hydraulic Rod - Lay the chair on its side and observe whether the hydraulic rod is leaking oil or experiencing sticking during extension and retraction. If the hydraulic rod fails, it needs to be replaced entirely. Second, Check the Transmission Components - Disassemble the backrest connection and inspect components such as gears and springs for wear or misalignment. Finally, Replace the Fixing Screws - If non-standard screws are causing obstruction to the movement of the hydraulic rod, replace them with standard screws and ensure a 1-2mm gap between the installed screws and the hydraulic rod to avoid interference.

Other Repair Services For problems involving damaged parts or complex structures, contact professional repair personnel for handling, including part replacement (such as five-star bases, armrests, gas cylinders, etc.) or furniture disassembly and installation (such as reassembly after moving, adjusting chair structures, etc.). It is recommended to prioritize original factory parts to ensure compatibility. Non-professionals should not disassemble the hydraulic system on their own to avoid the risk of injury from high-pressure components.
