Office Chair Repair and Replacement
Office chair repair and replacement require different methods depending on the specific faulty part. Here are the steps for handling common issues:

I. Repair and Replacement of the Base Tray, Gas Lift, and Chair Legs If the office chair has problems such as a loose base, a malfunctioning gas lift, or a broken chair leg, first prepare tools (a rubber mallet or a regular hammer, and a screwdriver). Place the chair upside down on the ground, and use the screwdriver to remove the screws that secure the bottom tray, separating the tray from the seat cushion. At this point, you can disassemble the base, gas lift, and chair legs, and replace the corresponding parts according to the fault location.
- Base Removal: Hold the chair upside down with one hand and tap the edge of the base at specific positions with a rubber mallet. If using an iron hammer, place a towel at the tapping spot to avoid damaging the surface. After tapping several times repeatedly, the base can be separated.
- Gas Lift Replacement: If the gas lift fails (e.g., air leakage or jamming), place the chair completely upside down and tap the bottom of the gas lift flatly with the side of the hammer (be careful to avoid the middle button) to detach it from the chair leg. When replacing, prioritize choosing gas lifts with safety certifications such as SGS and TUV to ensure safety in use.
- Chair Leg Repair: If the chair leg is broken, you can directly replace it with a new one. If it is only slightly deformed and does not affect use, you can temporarily keep the original part.
II. Special Repair of the Gas Lift If the gas lift is damaged but the base is not deformed, you can replace the gas cylinder alone:
- Remove the original gas cylinder and check if the base is intact.
- Knock off the outer layer at one end of the new gas cylinder (keep the inner core), and install the core into the corresponding hole in the base.
- Install the other end directly onto the chair leg or base to ensure a firm connection.
- Finally, assemble the base with the other parts of the chair and test if the lifting function works properly.
III. Repair of the Backrest Gliding Mechanism of the Sihoo C500 Office Chair For faults in the backrest gliding mechanism of this model (e.g., jamming or abnormal noise), you need to remove the back cover and the cup holder:
- Use a tool to pry open the buckles at the lower edge of the back cover and remove the back cover.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the 5 fixing screws inside the back cover. Be careful to keep the screws to avoid losing them.
- Separate the aluminum alloy cup holder from the backrest main body and check if there are foreign objects stuck in the gliding track or if there is insufficient lubrication.
- After cleaning the track, apply special lubricating grease, reassemble the cup holder and the back cover, and test if the backrest slides smoothly.
Precautions:
- Cut off the power supply before repair (if the chair has electric functions) to avoid accidental startup.
- Control the force when tapping parts to prevent deformation or breakage.
- If you are not familiar with the structure, it is recommended to take photos of the positions of each part before disassembly for easy reassembly.
