Office Chair Repair
Admin October 09, 2026
Office chair repair should be carried out according to the specific fault situation. Here are some common repair methods:

Repair of Hydraulic/Pneumatic Rod Faults
- Identify the Fault Cause: If the lifting function is abnormal, check for issues such as air leakage, damage, or valve failure in the pneumatic rod.
- Purchase a Compatible Pneumatic Rod: Select a pneumatic rod with the appropriate specifications based on the office chair model to avoid installation failure due to size mismatch.
- Disassembly and Replacement:
- Separate the office chair from the base and remove the old pneumatic rod by rotating or prying the fixing device. If the hydraulic rod is stuck, gently tap the plastic part with a hammer to assist in removal, taking care not to damage other components.
- Insert the new pneumatic rod into the connection point between the chair seat and the base and secure it firmly.
- Testing and Adjustment: After replacement, test the lifting function. If it is still unstable, check whether the valve or base is damaged and carry out further repairs or replacements if necessary.
- Maintenance: Regularly clean the surface of the pneumatic rod, use a special lubricant to reduce friction, and avoid overloading to extend its lifespan.
Repair of Tilt to One Side
- Check the Wheels:
- Place the chair upright or upside down and observe whether the wheel feet are in even contact with the ground. Check for any damage such as bending or breakage of the wheels.
- If damaged, purchase matching wheels. You can contact the manufacturer for the model number or take the old wheels to an office supplies store for comparison and selection.
- Remove the Old Casters:
- Grasp the wheel and the bottom of the chair firmly and pull it out. If it is stuck, insert a flat-head screwdriver into the gap between the wheel foot and the chair seat and slowly pry it until the wheel foot rod is exposed by 1 cm, then pull it out again.
- In rare cases, the wheels are fixed with screws. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws and remove them.
- Install the New Casters:
- Apply a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) or petroleum jelly to the socket of the chair seat to reduce installation resistance.
- Gently tap the caster rod with a rubber mallet until it is fully inserted into the base. Avoid tapping the bottom of the wheel to prevent deformation.
- Test the New Wheels: Place the chair upside down and sit on it to test whether the rolling is smooth. If it still tilts, check whether the seat plate is damaged.
Other Repair Steps
- Disassemble the Base: Place the chair on a flat surface, remove the fastening clips at the bottom of the seat, and use a wrench to loosen the fixing bolts or nuts to disassemble the base.
- Check the Internal Parts: Check for any other damaged parts outside the gas cylinder. Refer to the manufacturer's manual to replace the corresponding parts.
- Replace the Gas Cylinder: Use a pipe wrench to loosen and remove the old gas cylinder. Purchase a compatible new gas cylinder at a home improvement hardware store and insert the tapered end into the interior of the chair seat.
- Reassembly: After installing the new gas cylinder, secure the base, tighten all the bolts, and test whether the seat height adjustment function is normal.
If the problem is still not resolved after repair, it is recommended to contact a professional repair technician or replace the chair with a new one.
