Removing the Base of an Office Chair
You can follow these steps to remove the base of an office chair:

First, prepare the tools. You'll need a hammer, preferably a rubber mallet. If you don't have a rubber mallet, a regular hammer can be used as a substitute, but be sure to take protective measures to avoid damaging the chair's paint finish. Also, prepare a towel, which may come in handy during subsequent operations.
Next, preliminarily remove the screws. Turn the office chair upside down and place it on the ground. This makes it easier to operate and observe. Locate the screws that secure the bottom tray and use an appropriate screwdriver to remove them one by one. After removing the screws, the base and the seat cushion will start to separate. At this point, you can clearly see the structure and connection method of the base, preparing for the subsequent disassembly work.
Then, disassemble the base. Hold the chair upside down with one hand so that the base is in a position suitable for striking. Use the rubber mallet to strike specific areas of the base, usually where the base is tightly connected to other parts of the chair. Striking these areas can loosen the connections. If you don't have a rubber mallet and are using an iron hammer, be extra careful. To prevent scratching the paint finish, place the prepared towel between the iron hammer and the base to act as a buffer and provide protection. After striking several times continuously, the connections between the base and other parts of the chair will gradually loosen, eventually allowing for separation.
Throughout the entire operation, pay attention to using an appropriate amount of force to avoid damaging other parts of the chair due to excessive force. At the same time, stay focused during the operation to ensure your own safety and prevent the chair from tipping over or tools from slipping, which could cause accidental injuries. If you encounter a situation where the connections are too tight and difficult to disassemble, don't force the operation. You can check again to ensure that all screws have been completely removed or observe the structure of the base to find a more suitable striking position and method. By following these steps, you should generally be able to successfully remove the base of the office chair.
