Office Chair Relaxation Exercises

Admin October 22, 2026

There are various types of common office chair relaxation exercises, each comprising different combinations of movements that can specifically alleviate discomfort from prolonged sitting, improve posture, or reduce stress and burn fat. Here are the details:

15-Minute Office Fitness Routine
This routine includes several targeted movements, such as:

  • NEELIFT (Heel Raises): By repeatedly lifting your heels, you activate the muscles on the back of your calves, promote blood circulation in your lower limbs, and relieve foot swelling caused by prolonged sitting.
  • NDSTAND (Toe Standing): Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, slowly rise onto your tiptoes to the limit, then lower back down. Repeat multiple times to enhance ankle stability and reduce leg fatigue.
  • OE TOUCH (Side Waist Stretch): Sit up straight and bend your torso to one side, touching the ankle on the same side with your hand. Maintain a static stretch for 10-15 seconds to relax the side waist muscles and reduce the risk of spinal curvature.
  • NETUCK (Abdominal Crunches): While sitting, tighten your abdomen and mimic the crunch movement. Repeat 10-15 times to strengthen the core muscles and reduce abdominal fat accumulation.
  • HIP CIRCLES (Hip Rotations): With your hips as the pivot point, slowly draw circles clockwise or counterclockwise to relax the muscles around the hip joints and relieve hip stiffness caused by prolonged sitting.

Office Chair Stretching Routine
This routine focuses on static stretching, such as:

  • Crossed Arms + Side Neck Stretch: Cross your hands over your head and tilt your head to one side, feeling the stretch on the side of your neck. Hold for 15 seconds, then switch sides to relieve cervical spine pressure.
  • Chest Expansion Stretch: Cross your hands behind your back, lift your chest, and expand your shoulders backward. Hold for 10 seconds to improve rounded shoulders and้ฉผ่ƒŒ (hunchback), and enhance thoracic spine flexibility.
  • Seated Twist: Sit in a chair and slowly rotate your body to one side, using your hands to hold onto the back of the chair for support and deepening the twist. Hold for 15 seconds, then switch sides to relax the waist muscles and promote spinal blood circulation.

5-Minute Office Stress-Relief Routine
This routine combines dynamic and static movements, such as:

  • Shoulder and Neck Reverse Stretch: Clasp your hands behind your back with your fingers interlocked, lift your head and chest, and expand your shoulders backward. Hold for 10 seconds to relieve tension in the shoulder and neck muscles.
  • Under-Desk Leg Lifts and Abdominal Tucks: Sit on the edge of your chair, slowly lift your legs straight until they are parallel to the ground, while tightening your abdomen. Hold for 5 seconds, then lower back down. Repeat 10 times to exercise your abdominal muscles and promote lower limb blood circulation.
  • Toe Raises and Buttocks Tucks: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, slowly rise onto your tiptoes while tightening your buttock muscles. Hold for 2 seconds, then lower back down. Repeat 15 times to activate the muscles in your lower limbs and buttocks and relieve fatigue from prolonged sitting.
