Office Chair Reinforcement Wooden Board
The reinforcement of wooden boards for office chairs requires selecting targeted solutions based on the type of damage, combining accessories and craftsmanship to achieve structural strengthening. Specific operations can be divided into the following three scenarios:

I. Reinforcement of Loose Mortise-and-Tenon Joints
If the mortise-and-tenon joints of a wooden office chair are loose, the first step is to address the adhesive failure. First, use a hairdryer on a low-temperature setting (โค60โ) to evenly heat the loose joint, softening the old adhesive layer by evaporating residual moisture inside the wood and avoiding cracking caused by high temperatures. After the adhesive layer is softened, use a fine syringe to inject woodworking strong adhesive (such as epoxy resin) into the mortise, while inserting a bamboo wedge that matches the width of the mortise (the length is recommended to be 1.2 times the depth of the tenon) to fill the gap using the longitudinal strength of the bamboo fibers. During the fixing stage, use a G-clamp to apply vertical pressure for 24 hours to ensure the adhesive layer is fully cured. If the tenon is severely worn, refer to traditional craftsmanship to deepen the mortise to 1.5 times its original depth and supplement it with putty mixed with wood powder of the same material (such as oak powder + water-based paint base). After repair, sand it with 400-grit sandpaper until it is flush with the original surface.
II. Replacement of Rusty Screw Connectors
For structural looseness caused by rusty metal screws, a two-step process is required: first, spray a rust inhibitor such as WD-40 on the rusty parts and let it sit for 10 minutes before using a wire brush to remove the rust residue; when replacing, prioritize using 304 stainless steel self-tapping screws (diameter recommended to be 3.5-4mm), which have more than 10 times the corrosion resistance of ordinary carbon steel. During installation, control the tightening force so that the tail of the screw is flush with the surface of the wooden board, avoiding over-tightening that could tear the wood fibers. If the original screw hole is enlarged, first inject epoxy resin adhesive to fill it, and after curing, re-drill a hole (the hole diameter should be 0.5mm smaller than the screw diameter) to ensure the bite force of the new screw.
III. Selection and Installation Specifications of Connectors
Select accessories based on load requirements:
- T-shaped right-angle connectors (ยฅ0.4/piece) are suitable for light-load scenarios (load-bearing โค15kg) and require pre-drilling with a 2.5mm drill bit before installation;
- The 90-degree right-angle design of L-shaped bracket shelf supports (ยฅ0.48/piece) can disperse lateral forces, and it is recommended to use 2 pieces per connection to form a triangular support;
- Hidden plate support rods (ยฅ1.71/piece) are embedded under the wooden board, suitable for occasions requiring aesthetics, and during installation, ensure that the contact area between the rod body and the wooden board is โฅ80%;
- Thickened corner brackets (ยฅ3.9/piece) are made of 304 stainless steel with a thickness of 3mm, suitable for high-stress areas such as chair backs, and require M4 screws for installation.
Operation Precautions: All metal accessories should have their contact surfaces with the wood coated with anti-rust paint to prevent rust from spreading after long-term use; after reinforcement, perform a load test (it is recommended to apply 1.5 times the normal usage weight) and observe for 24 hours without deformation before putting it into use. If reinforcing multi-layer boards, lay a moisture-proof film (such as PE film) between the layers to prevent moisture penetration from causing the wood to expand.
