Office Chair Refueling
Office chair refueling mainly involves adding hydraulic oil to the seat's hydraulic cylinder and lubricating parts such as the adjustment mechanisms and wheels. Details are as follows:

I. Refueling the Seat's Hydraulic Cylinder
Prepare Tools and Materials
You will need a wrench, hydraulic oil that meets the requirements of the seat's hydraulic cylinder (refer to the product manual or technical documentation for the model selection), and an oil drip tray. The hydraulic oil must be compatible with the original equipment to avoid damage to the cylinder caused by using inferior or incorrect models.Locate the Refueling Port
The refueling port is usually located at the bottom or side of the seat. You can confirm its position by observing the structure or consulting the product manual. For some seats, the refueling port may be covered by a plastic cap, which needs to be removed first.Refueling Steps
- Adjust the seat to its lowest height to ensure sufficient operating space. Use a wrench to turn the refueling port cap counterclockwise and remove it, placing it in a clean area.
- Pour the hydraulic oil slowly, controlling the flow rate to prevent overflow. If the oil bottle does not have a guide tube, you can use a funnel to assist.
- After pouring the oil, gently press the seat multiple times (such as raising and lowering it) to allow the hydraulic oil to fully fill the inside of the cylinder and expel air through pressure changes.
Post-Refueling Handling
- Observe whether the cylinder is full (usually judged by whether the hydraulic oil no longer seeps in or the seat raises and lowers smoothly). Wipe any oil stains around the refueling port with a clean cloth.
- Tighten the refueling port cap clockwise to ensure a good seal. Pour the waste hydraulic oil into the oil drip tray and hand it over to a professional agency for disposal to avoid environmental pollution.
II. Lubricating Other Parts
For office chairs that have been in use for a long time, the adjustment mechanisms (such as the height adjustment knob and tilt lock) and wheels may become stuck or produce abnormal noises. In this case, you can use transparent light machine oil (containing mineral oil and not easily volatile) for lubrication:
- Drip the machine oil onto the moving joints of the adjustment mechanisms and operate them several times to allow the oil to penetrate.
- Drip oil onto the axle of the wheels and rotate the wheels to distribute the oil evenly, improving the smoothness of sliding.
- After lubrication, wipe off any excess oil stains with a cloth to prevent them from getting dirty with dust.
Precautions: Ensure that the seat is powered off before operation (for electric adjustment models). Avoid contact between the hydraulic oil and your skin or eyes. If accidental contact occurs, rinse immediately with clean water and seek medical attention. Regular maintenance (recommended every 1-2 years) can extend the service life of the office chair.
