Office Chair Refinishing Paint

Admin October 17, 2026

The refinishing paint for office chairs should be applied in steps according to the material, as follows:

1. Wooden Frame Treatment
If the chair frame is made of wood, surface pre-treatment is required first. Use sandpaper (recommended 120-240 grit) to gently sand along the wood grain to remove old paint layers, burrs, and surface stains, ensuring a smooth and even wooden surface. Pay attention to applying even pressure during sanding to avoid excessive wear that could blur the wood grain. After sanding, wipe the surface with a clean, soft cloth to remove residual sawdust and dust, ensuring good adhesion of the subsequent paint layers.

2. Wood Finish Spraying
Choose a wood finish that matches the refinishing needs, such as an eco-friendly paint like white Sanqing paint. Before spraying, shake the paint can well, maintain a distance of about 20-30 centimeters between the nozzle and the wooden surface, and use the โ€œcross-hatch methodโ€ for even spraying to avoid local buildup or runs. Spraying should be done in three coats, with an interval of 1-2 hours between each coat to ensure the previous layer is completely dry before applying the next. This operation enhances the thickness and wear resistance of the paint layer while reducing the risk of blistering or cracking.

3. Gap and Detail Treatment
Gaps in the wooden frame or engraved grooves are prone to paint leakage or thin paint layers. Use a small brush (e.g., 1-2 centimeters wide) to dip an appropriate amount of paint and carefully apply it along the gaps to ensure complete coverage of the paint layer. After application, use a cotton swab to gently press the edges of the gaps to correct excess paint and avoid affecting the overall appearance.

4. Metal Support Rod Refinishing
If the chair includes metal support rods (e.g., chair legs, star bases), they need to be treated separately. First, lightly sand the metal surface with sandpaper to remove rust or oxidation layers, then wipe it clean with a dry cloth. Choose a silver spray paint (e.g., rust-resistant metal paint) and evenly spray 2-3 coats, with an interval of 10-15 minutes between each coat. Ensure good ventilation during spraying and wear a mask to avoid inhaling paint fumes. After drying, gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth to enhance the gloss.

5. Drying and Finished Product Protection
After all paint layers have been sprayed, place the chair in a well-ventilated and dry area to stand for 24-48 hours to ensure complete curing of the paint layers. Avoid touching or moving the chair during this period to prevent scratches on the paint surface. After drying, gently wipe the wooden surface with soft wax to enhance protection and gloss.

Precautions: Wear gloves and a mask during operation to avoid contact between the paint and skin or respiratory tract; if working indoors, maintain good air circulation to reduce the accumulation of harmful gases.
