Office Chair Recommendation Data

Admin October 12, 2026

When selecting an office chair, it is essential to focus on three core parameters: seat size, height, and backrest. Making reasonable choices can enhance comfort and reduce fatigue from prolonged sitting.

Seat Size Should Match Body Type and Usage Scenarios
For seat width, it is recommended to choose a fixed model of 40-45 centimeters or an adjustable model with a range of 38-48 centimeters. A width that is too narrow can restrict leg movement, while a width that is too wide may compress the outer thighs. Seat depth should be adjusted according to body type: individuals under 160 centimeters in height or those who are slender should opt for a depth of 38-40 centimeters to avoid pressure on the back of the knees; individuals over 175 centimeters in height or those who are robust should choose a depth of 42-45 centimeters for better support, ensuring that the seat depth does not exceed the length of the thighs to avoid obstructing blood circulation.

Height Adjustment Should Follow the Principle of 'Feet Steadily on the Ground'
The standard height range for office chairs in China is 40-50 centimeters, but it is recommended to adjust to 40-44 centimeters for actual use. When adjusting, ensure that both feet are flat on the ground when seated, with the thighs and lower legs forming a 90-degree angle, and maintaining a gap of about 5 centimeters between the back of the knees and the front edge of the seat to avoid compressing blood vessels and nerves. Male users, who generally have a higher average height, can prioritize a height of 41-43 centimeters; female users who are under 160 centimeters in height can appropriately lower it to around 40 centimeters.

Backrest Design Should Fit the Spinal Curve
The height of the backrest should cover the area from the waist to the shoulder blades, with special models (such as those with headrests) reaching a total height of up to 120 centimeters, but the core support area should be in the lumbar and hip region. For split-type backrests, it is recommended to choose a connecting steel plate thickness of 6-8 millimeters to ensure structural stability. The backrest angle should be adjustable, with the optimal state being that when seated, the backrest precisely supports the third to fifth lumbar vertebrae (approximately the most concave part of the waist), forming an 'S'-shaped support to distribute the pressure of the upper body. If the backrest has an adjustable lumbar support, it should be adjusted according to the individual's lumbar curve to avoid excessive protrusion or recline.

Additional Considerations for Special Needs
If prolonged desk work is required, a model with a seat that can tilt forward by up to 5 degrees can be chosen to reduce abdominal pressure; if frequent reclining for rest is needed, it is necessary to confirm the maximum recline angle of the backrest (usually 110-135 degrees is appropriate) and the stability of the locking function. Additionally, details such as material breathability (e.g., mesh is superior to leather) and armrest height (recommended to be level with the desktop) can also affect the user experience and should be considered based on actual needs.
