Office Chair Reclining Tutorial
Admin October 10, 2026
The operation of reclining an office chair should be carried out step by step, as follows:

1. Unlock the Backrest
- Locate the Adjustment Mechanism: Check the right or left side at the bottom of the seat to find the adjustment lever, knob, or button. Common designs include:
- Lever: Pull it out horizontally (as seen in some ergonomic chairs);
- Toggle: Press down or pull back (common in basic models);
- Knob: Rotate it to the 'unlock' position (may be used in high-end models);
- Button: Press the locking button on the side of the chair body directly (found in some electric or pneumatic chairs).
- Operation Tip: If unsure of the location, lean over to observe the structure at the bottom of the seat or refer to the product manual.
2. Adjust the Reclining Angle
- Recline Action: After unlocking, slowly lean back, using your body weight to tilt the backrest.
- Angle Selection:
- Daily Office Work: A slight recline of 110ยฐ is recommended to balance comfort and work efficiency;
- Lunch Break: It is advisable to choose an angle between 110ยฐ and 130ยฐ (or 120ยฐ to 135ยฐ, depending on the model) to reduce lumbar pressure;
- High-End Models: Support segmented locking (e.g., 100ยฐ, 120ยฐ, 150ยฐ). A 'click' sound indicates that the angle is fixed.
- Safety Tip: Keep your body's center of gravity stable during adjustment to avoid sudden force causing the chair to tip over.
3. Lock the Angle (Optional)
- Automatic Locking: After releasing the adjustment lever/knob/button, the backrest usually locks automatically in the current position.
- Verify Locking: Gently push the backrest to confirm there is no slippage, ensuring safety during use.
4. Auxiliary Adjustments (Enhance Comfort)
- Headrest: Adjust it to the cervical spine support position (the middle of the headrest is parallel to the top of the ears). Raise it by 1-2 cm during lunch breaks to support the head;
- Lumbar Support: Match it to your height vertically and adjust the support intensity in the depth direction to ensure the waist fits naturally withoutๆฌ็ฉบ (hanging in the air);
- Armrests: Adjust the height so that the arms and elbows form a 90ยฐ angle, avoiding shoulder pain;
- Footrest: Adding one can elevate the legs and promote blood circulation (especially suitable for long rests).
5. Reset (Return to Upright Position)
- Re-Unlock: Press the button, pull the lever, or rotate the knob to release the backrest from the locked position;
- Forward Tilt and Rebound: Slowly lean forward, and the backrest will automatically rebound to the upright position under the action of the spring.
Precautions:
- Before operation, confirm the maximum recline angle of the chair (mostly 135ยฐ, with high-end models reaching up to 180ยฐ) to avoid forcing a recline and damaging the structure;
- Regularly check the sensitivity of the adjustment mechanism. If there is any stuttering or abnormal noise, contact after-sales service for repair.
