Office Chair Reclining Adjustment

Admin October 13, 2026

The method for adjusting an office chair's recline depends on the chair's type and design. Below are common adjustment methods and troubleshooting steps:

I. Common Adjustment Mechanisms and Operating Methods

  1. Lever Adjustment System

    • Locate the Adjustment Lever: Typically found on the right or left side beneath the seat, some chairs may integrate it with the height adjustment lever.
    • Release the Lock: If the chair has a recline lock feature, first pull up or push the lever to release the recline lock.
    • Adjust the Angle: Lean back in the chair while simultaneously operating the lever to achieve a comfortable backrest angle. Some chairs require pushing the lever again to lock the position.
  2. Knob Adjustment System

    • Locate the Knob: Usually positioned near the center of the seat's underside, close to theๆ”ฏๆŸฑ (support column).
    • Adjust Recline Tension: Turn the knob clockwise to increase resistance (suitable for heavier individuals) or counterclockwise to decrease resistance (suitable for lighter individuals).
    • Special Designs: Some chairs have a separate recline angle knob; refer to the instruction manual for operation.
  3. Pneumatic Adjustment System

    • Operating Method: The pneumatic lever is often shared with the height adjustment lever. Adjust the recline angle by pushing in different directions.
    • Characteristics: The adjustment process is smooth, requiring no excessive force. Simply pull the lever gently to fix the position.

II. Common Faults and Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Backrest Fails to Return to Upright Position

    • Cause: The control lever has been accidentally pushed into the fixing hole, preventing reset.
    • Solution: Pull out the control lever, allow the backrest to return to the upright position, and then push it back into the fixing hole.
  2. Executive Chair Keeps Reclining Backward

    • Adjust the Backrest Lock:
      • Wrench Type: After sitting, press down the wrench to lower the backrest to the desired position. Release it upon hearing a "click" to confirm fixation.
      • Knob Type: Tighten the knob clockwise to increase lock pressure until the backrest does not slide back automatically. Avoid over-tightening to prevent difficulty in adjustment.
    • Reinforce Base Connections:
      • Check the hex screws between the seat cushion, backrest, and base. Tighten any loose screws, especially the main load-bearing bolts.
      • If the five-star base is deformed, gently tap it back into shape with a rubber mallet to avoid uneven force distribution.
    • Replace Faulty Parts:
      • Broken Lock Spring: Remove the decorative panel at the bottom of the backrest to replace the spring.
      • Worn Base Clip: Replace with a clip of matching size.
      • Loose Electric Adjustment Motor: Unplug the power and tighten the motor's fixing screws.

Tip: Confirm the chair type before adjustment and avoid using excessive force to prevent damage to components. If the issue persists, contact a professional repair technician or consult the product manual.
