Office Chair and Recliner Cleaning

Admin October 09, 2026

Cleaning office chairs and recliners requires selecting appropriate methods based on the material. Here are the specific steps:

I. Comprehensive Basic Treatment

Before cleaning, perform a thorough vacuuming. Use a vacuum cleaner or a soft-bristled brush to remove surface dust and debris from crevices. This step prevents secondary dust contamination during subsequent cleaning, with particular attention to areas prone to dust accumulation, such as armrests and the backrest crevices. If there is hair or fibrous debris on the seat surface, a lint roller can be used to assist in cleaning, ensuring no large particles remain.

II. Material-Specific Cleaning

Different materials require different cleaning approaches, necessitating targeted treatment:

  • Genuine Leather: Wipe along the leather grain with a dry, soft cotton cloth or chamois cloth. Avoid using rough tools (such as steel wool) or alcohol-based cleaners to prevent cracking or fading of the leather. For stubborn stains, apply a small amount of specialized leather cleaner in spots, allow it to dry naturally, and then apply leather conditioner to restore shine.
  • Mesh Fabric: Choose a neutral foam cleaner or specialized mesh fabric cleaner, and gently brush the surface with a soft-bristled brush (such as an old toothbrush). For stubborn stains, spray the cleaner locally and let it sit for 5 minutes before brushing repeatedly. After cleaning, use a dry towel to absorb moisture. Avoid direct sunlight, as it may cause the mesh fabric to become brittle or fade.
  • PU Material: Armrests and other PU components can be wiped directly with a damp towel. Oil stains or pen marks can be removed with a small amount of neutral detergent. For deep maintenance, spray a leather brightener to form a protective film and delay aging.

III. Deep Cleaning Process (Optional)

If the seat surface is heavily stained or requires thorough disinfection, the following methods can be used:

  1. Pretreatment: Spray a specialized pretreatment agent on stubborn stains (such as coffee stains or oil stains) and let it sit for 3-5 minutes to soften the stains.
  2. Water Circulation Cleaning: Use a portable upholstery cleaner to flush stains with high-pressure water flow while suctioning away dirty water to prevent residue.
  3. Steam Disinfection: Use a steam cleaner to sterilize the seat surface at high temperatures. The steam temperature can reach over 120ยฐC, effectively killing mites and bacteria, making it particularly suitable for households with infants or pets.

Precautions: Ensure the seat surface is completely dry before use to prevent mold growth or rusting of metal components due to moisture. If unsure about the material, test the cleaner on a concealed area first to avoid widespread damage.
