Office Chair Recline Reset
The method for resetting the recline of an office chair varies depending on the type of adjustment mechanism, and the appropriate operation should be selected based on the specific structure:

1. Lever-Adjusted Type The lever is usually located beneath the seat and is used to lock or release the backrest angle. To reset, pull the lever outward to disengage it from the backrest's locking hole, and the backrest will automatically return to its starting position under the action of built-in strong springs. If the backrest fails to automatically reset and lock after reclining, the lever may have been accidentally pushed into the locking hole. In this case, pull the lever out again to return the backrest to its position, and then push it back into the locking hole as needed to lock the angle.
2. Gas Lift-Supported Type
- Metal Adjustment Lever: Suitable for some office chairs supported by gas lifts. To adjust, straighten the backrest and press the metal adjustment lever beneath the seat 5-6 times consecutively to release the gas pressure and reset the backrest.
- Knob Adjustment: Locate the circular knob at the bottom right of the chair. Turn it clockwise all the way, then reverse it about 45 degrees to test the force. If you encounter resistance or jamming, fully unscrew the knob, apply a small amount of lubricant, and then reinstall it before adjusting to the desired angle.
- Cable-Controlled Lever Type: Some high-end models require pulling up the cable-controlled levers on both sides of the seat simultaneously to activate the automatic return function, allowing the backrest to reset.
3. Knob-Adjusted Type Most knobs are located on the right side beneath the seat and are circular or oval in shape. Turning the knob counterclockwise unlocks the recline angle, allowing adjustment to the desired angle, and then turning it clockwise tightens it to secure the position. Some knobs also support adjusting the recline resistance, which should be set to a comfortable level based on personal preference.
4. Pull-Rod Adjusted Type The pull rod is usually located on the left or right side beneath the seat and is made of plastic. Pulling the rod upward unlocks the recline, allowing angle adjustment. After adjusting, release the rod, and the lock will automatically engage in the fixed position. Some pull rods support infinite adjustment, enabling finer angle control.
5. Wrench-Adjusted Type A few older or simpler office chairs have a wrench located near the rear legs beneath the seat. Turning the wrench unlocks the recline function, and after adjusting the angle, returning the wrench to its original position completes the locking. Be careful with the force applied during operation to avoid damaging the wrench structure.
6. Function-Locked Type If the chair's recline function is locked, locate the locking button (usually on the backrest or beneath the seat), pull it outward, and then lean back on the backrest to automatically reset it. After resetting, the function can be relocked as needed.
