Office Chair Recline Installation
The installation and adjustment of the recline function of an office chair should be carried out according to the following standardized steps:

1. Component Connection and Fixation
Modern office chairs often adopt a modular design. During installation, align the groove at the bottom of the backrest bracket with the metal rail at the rear of the seat cushion. A 'click' sound indicates that the snap-fit is in place. Then, use screws (such as M6 size) to tighten the fixing holes on both sides of the bracket from the bottom upwards. Tighten them in a diagonal sequence in multiple steps to avoid uneven force distribution that could cause structural misalignment. For example, the Sihoo M59AS model requires 4 M6*20 chassis screws and 6mm washers to connect the backrest and seat cushion, ensuring a secure connection.
2. Recline Locking Mechanism Adjustment
A recline locking mechanism (such as a handle or lever) is usually located beneath the seat. Test its function by moving it back and forth:
- Normal State: There should be a 'click' sound when moving it, and the gear changes should be clear.
- Abnormal Handling: If the handle has abnormal resistance or no locking function, check whether the internal spring has fallen off or is stuck. Some models (such as the Sihoo M59AS) achieve recline locking and release by pulling out/pushing in the handle and support elastic force adjustment. Adjust it to a comfortable gear according to the instructions. Note: If you need to disassemble the outer shell to adjust mechanical structures such as gears and pins, confirm the warranty status first. Unauthorized disassembly may affect after-sales service.
3. Rotating Shaft and Hinge Maintenance
If the backrest feels heavy or jams when reclining, check the rotating shaft or hinge where the backrest connects to the chassis:
- Cleaning: Remove dust, hair, and other foreign objects to prevent entanglement that could increase friction.
- Lubrication: Apply silicone grease lubricant to reduce friction between metal components and restore smooth recline movement. Over time, this area may experience functional abnormalities due to insufficient lubrication or foreign object accumulation, requiring regular maintenance.
4. Function Testing and Adjustment
After installation, comprehensively test the recline function:
- Angle Adjustment: Ensure that the backrest tilt angle is adjustable within the range of 5-15ยฐ, with uniform resistance.
- Locking Reliability: When reclined to the maximum angle, the locking mechanism should be stable without sliding.
- Elastic Force Adjustment: If the resistance is too high, check whether the bracket slide rails or chassis screws need to be reinforced, or adjust the elastic force to 'tighten' or 'loosen' it using the adjustment handle (such as the Sihoo M59AS model).
Precautions
- Tools and Accessories: Before installation, confirm that all accessories such as screw packs and instruction manuals are complete. Use the tools provided with the chair (such as a cross-head screwdriver or Allen wrench).
- Pneumatic Chair Safety: It is recommended to deflate and reduce the pressure of a pneumatic lifting chair before installation to avoid accidental lifting caused by accidentally touching the switch.
- Warranty Terms: Non-professionals should not disassemble the internal structure of the locking mechanism without authorization to avoid affecting after-sales rights.
