Office Chair Recline Adjustment
Here are the methods for adjusting an office chair to a reclined position:

1. Unlock the Recline Function The unlocking methods vary among different office chair models. Some chairs have a handle on the right side; a gentle pull unlocks the backrest, allowing it to move freely. Others use a button design. Pushing the button inward locks it (at this point, only the seat height can be adjusted), while pulling it outward unlocks it, enabling you to adjust the seat's recline angle. Before operating, observe the markings on the right side of the chair or the base to avoid accidentally pressing other function buttons.
2. Adjust the Recline Resistance The base usually has a cylindrical knob for controlling the backrest's rebound force. Turning it clockwise increases the support force, suitable for users with a heavier weight or those who need stronger back support. Turning it counterclockwise reduces the support force, making the recline process smoother. When adjusting, maintain a stable sitting posture to avoid losing balance due to sudden changes in resistance.
3. Lock the Recline Angle Most office chairs have a control lever on the right side of the seat cushion. Pulling out the lever allows the backrest to recline freely to any angle. Once you find a comfortable position, gently push the lever back into place to lock the current angle. Some high-end models support multi-position locking; refer to the instruction manual according to the chair model for operation.
4. Adjustments for Specific Models
- Infinite Adjustment Models: Some reclining office chairs support infinite adjustment from 95 degrees to 160 degrees. By pulling out the hidden footrest and adjusting the backrest in coordination, you can activate a nearly flat 160-degree mode, suitable for short breaks.
- Side Adjustment Models: A few chairs have an independent adjustment lever on the side. Pulling it allows you to directly adjust the backrest's inclination, making the operation more intuitive.
5. Return to the Upright Position Unlock the angle lock: First, pull the control lever outward while using your back to apply force backward, returning the backrest to the upright position. Then, push the lever back into place to complete the locking. If the chair is equipped with a resistance adjustment knob, it is recommended to set the resistance to a medium level for easier subsequent operations.
Precautions:
- Before adjusting, ensure the chair is on a stable surface to prevent slipping and accidents.
- For first-time use, start with a smaller angle and gradually get used to the recline resistance.
- For long-term use in a reclined position, check the chair's weight limit to avoid structural damage.
