Office Chair Recline Adjustment
The methods for adjusting the recline of an office chair vary depending on its type and adjustment mechanism. Common methods include lever-based, knob-based, button-based, and pneumatic adjustments, with specific operations as follows:

Lever-based adjustment is a common design in most executive chairs. The adjustment lever is typically located on the right or left side beneath the seat. To operate, pull the lever while simultaneously leaning back with your body, and the backrest will tilt accordingly. Release the lever to lock the current angle. If the backrest fails to reset after adjustment, the lever may be stuck in the locking hole, requiring you to pull it out again and adjust it to the initial position. This type of adjustment relies on a mechanical latch structure, so ensure the lever is fully reset to avoid locking failure.
Knob-based adjustment is often found in ergonomic chairs, with the knob usually located at the center bottom of the seat. Turn the knob clockwise to increase recline resistance (suitable for heavier individuals) and counterclockwise to decrease resistance (making the backrest easier to recline). Adjust the resistance value according to your weight and needs to prevent excessive recline speed due to low resistance or inability to tilt due to high resistance. This design controls spring tension through a threaded structure, so regularly check if the knob is loose.
Button-based adjustment has a locking and unlocking logic opposite to conventional designs. Pushing the button inward locks it, allowing only seat height adjustment at this time; pulling the button outward unlocks it, enabling free adjustment of the recline angle. After adjusting to the desired position, push the button back in to lock it. Pay attention to the push-pull direction of the button during adjustment to avoid ineffective adjustment or sudden rebound of the backrest due to misoperation.
Pneumatic adjustment is common in high-end office chairs and is usually integrated with the height adjustment lever. It achieves stepless and smooth recline through a pneumatic lever. Continuously apply force while operating until reaching the target angle, and it will automatically lock upon release. This type of adjustment relies on a pneumatic spring, so avoid violent operations that may cause air leakage or damage to the gas rod, and regularly check the air rod's sealing performance to ensure safety.
Adjustment precautions:
- Apply continuous force during operation and do not release your hand before reaching the desired angle to prevent mechanical jamming or angle rebound.
- Choose the recline angle based on the usage scenario: a small angle (15ยฐ-30ยฐ) is suitable for focused work, and a large angle (45ยฐ-60ยฐ) is suitable for relaxation or thinking.
- If the adjustment fails, first check if mechanical components are stuck (such as the lever, knob, or button) or damaged (such as air leakage in the gas rod or spring breakage), and contact after-sales service for repair if necessary.
