Office Chair Recline Adjustment
The recline of an office chair can be adjusted and troubleshooted using the following methods:

Adjust the device under the seat For chairs with a pneumatic rod adjustment mechanism, locate the metal rod or handle under the seat. Pull it upward, lean back to the desired angle, and then release the handle to lock it in place. For chairs with a knob adjustment mechanism, turn the knob clockwise to tighten the backrest and counterclockwise to loosen the angle. When adjusting, keep the handle pressed or pulled, lean forward to use gravity to help the backrest rebound, and then release the handle after confirming it is upright. If the handle gets stuck, repeatedly pull it and gently tap the backrest to release the mechanical lock.
Handle the backrest latch Check the locking mechanism at the junction of the seat cushion and the backrest (a small lever on the side or a knob at the bottom). For lever-type latches, sit down and press the lever downward, then press the backrest to the notch and listen for a "click" sound to confirm it is fixed. For knob-type latches, turn the knob clockwise to increase the latch pressure, but avoid making it too tight, which could make subsequent adjustments difficult.
Reinforce the connection parts of the chassis If adjusting the latch is ineffective, check the fixing screws of the chassis. Use an Allen wrench to tighten the screws between the seat cushion, backrest, and chassis, paying special attention to the main load-bearing bolt in the middle (looseness is the main cause of reclining). If the five-claw base is deformed, gently tap it with a rubber mallet to correct it and avoid uneven force distribution.
Replace faulty parts If adjustments are ineffective, it may be due to damaged core components. For example, if the latch spring is broken, open the bottom of the backrest to replace it; if the chassis latch is worn, match it with a new latch; for electric adjustable chairs, check the motor screws and unplug the power before making adjustments to prevent electric shock.
Check for structural faults If the above methods are ineffective, check whether the screws at the connection between the chassis and the backrest are loose and whether the pneumatic rod is leaking air. If the tray is desoldered or the bracket is cracked, the entire part must be replaced, and welding repairs are not allowed.
Design purpose and precautions The recline design of office chairs aims to provide a comfortable sitting posture, relieve fatigue, and adapt to different scenarios, conforming to ergonomic principles. However, the adjustment methods may vary among different brands and models. Before operating, refer to the instruction manual or contact a professional maintenance technician to avoid damage or safety hazards caused by incorrect operations.
