Office Chair Rebound Foam
Office chair rebound foam typically features a high-rebound design, with 45D foam as a representative example, offering characteristics such as instant rebound, layered support, and eco-friendliness without odor. Its performance stems from material structure and process optimization.

The core advantage of high-rebound foam lies in its “instant rebound” property. Taking 45D foam as an example, its density and elastic modulus are precisely proportioned, enabling it to quickly return to its original shape after being compressed, reducing the sagging sensation caused by prolonged use. This characteristic originates from the foam's multi-layered structure: the surface layer conforms to the body's curves, providing initial softness; the middle layer achieves layered support through varying densities, such as using higher-density foam in the lumbar region for enhanced support; the bottom layer acts as a buffer, distributing pressure and maintaining overall stability. The synergy of these layers allows the seat to meet both the softness needs for short-term leaning and the support requirements for long-term office work.
In terms of material and process, the polyether polyol used in high-rebound foam often employs EO (ethylene oxide) end-capping technology. This process enhances the activity of polyether molecules, resulting in foam cells with a “mixed size distribution” feature: coarse skeletons provide basic support, while fine skeletons enhance local elasticity, with an open-cell rate exceeding 60%. When body pressure is applied to the foam, the cell structure generates differentiated rebound forces based on the degree of deformation—under slight pressure, the elasticity of fine skeletons dominates, providing softness; under heavy pressure, the coarse skeletons and open-cell structure work together to form stable support, avoiding the discomfort of “sinking in.”
Common office chair rebound foam products on the market also include PU foam self-skinning armrest foam. These products combine a hard surface layer with internal high-rebound foam through an integrated molding process, ensuring both the durability of the armrest surface and the soft elasticity inside. Their eco-friendliness is reflected in raw material selection: using polyether polyols with low volatile organic compounds (VOCs), without adding harmful chemicals during production, resulting in odorless finished products that meet the air quality requirements of office environments.
From an application perspective, high-rebound foam is particularly suitable for office environments requiring prolonged fixed sitting postures. Its layered support design reduces pressure concentration on the lumbar and cervical spine, lowering fatigue from prolonged sitting; its instant rebound property quickly adapts to posture changes, such as providing moderate rebound when leaning forward for work and enhancing enveloping comfort when reclining for rest, improving overall user comfort.
