Office Chair Rebound Broken
If the rebound function of your office chair is broken, first identify the cause and then address it accordingly. Here are some common causes and solutions:

Mechanical Jamming
A problem with the rebound of an office chair may be caused by mechanical jamming. In this case, check whether the seat switch has been reset, as a non-reset switch may hinder the normal operation of the rebound mechanism. At the same time, clean any foreign objects in the slide rails, such as coins, keys, and other small items. Once they enter the slide rails, they may jam the components and affect the rebound. Sometimes, giving the backrest a couple of firm slaps can also make the jammed components return to their proper positions, thus solving the rebound problem.
Airbag Failure (for airbag-equipped seats)
For seats equipped with airbags, airbag failure is a factor that can cause abnormal rebound. Check the air control valve and the changeover switch at the bottom of the seat to ensure they are in normal working condition. If you find that the airbag is leaking, since reinflating and repairing it require professional equipment and skills, it is recommended to go to a 4S shop for handling.
Damaged Adjustment Device
- Locking Mechanism Issues: Most office chairs with a reclining function are equipped with a locking mechanism, usually located under the seat. For lever-controlled chairs, try pulling the control lever upward to unlock it; for cable-controlled ergonomic chairs, adjust the operation switch integrated with the base to see if the rebound function can be restored.
- Clean the Adjustment Device: After long-term use, the backrest adjustment device of an office chair may accumulate dust and dirt, causing it to malfunction. You can use tissues, cloths, vacuum cleaners, or brushes to clean the adjustment device. After removing the dirt, the rebound function may return to normal.
- Check the Position of the Casters: Improper positioning of the office chair's casters may also cause the backrest to fail to rebound. Try removing the chair base, carefully inspect and readjust the position of the casters, and ensure they are correctly connected and fixed to the adjustment rod. This operation is relatively complex, and if you are not familiar with it, seek help from a professional.
- Spring Issues: If the spring is broken, first lay the office chair down, locate the position of the damaged spring, use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws or clips that fix the spring, remove the broken spring, measure its specifications and dimensions, purchase a suitable replacement spring, and ensure it is firmly installed when installing; if the connection part of the spring is loose, first separate the backrest from the seat, check the connection points. If the solder joint is loose, use a soldering iron to re-solder it. If the connecting part is worn, replace it with a new one.
Component Damage
If none of the above methods can solve the problem, it may be that some components of the office chair are damaged, such as a damaged mechanism spring. In this case, you can contact the chair manufacturer or seller to replace the damaged components. If the components cannot be replaced or the repair cost is too high, consider buying a new chair.
