Office Chair Rat Prevention
The following measures can be taken to prevent rats from approaching office chairs:

I. Daily Preventive Measures The backrest and seating area of office chairs should be kept clean to avoid piling up snacks, papers, and other debris that may attract rats to inhabit or gnaw. When leaving the office area, the chair should be adjusted to a vertical position to reduce gaps and hiding spaces. If leaving for more than half an hour, it is recommended to push the chair into the desk cavity, using the enclosed structure of the desk to block rat contact. This action can cut off the rats' hiding paths and reduce the probability of them approaching the office chair.
II. Physical Repellent and Chemical Deterrence If the office chair has already been gnawed by rats, targeted measures should be taken based on their habits. Rats have a need to grind their teeth, and gnawing behavior may continue to occur. In this case, high-concentration chili juice (extracted from varieties with high spiciness such asๆๅคฉๆค (Chinese red peppers) and ๅฐ็ฑณ่พฃ (small chili peppers)) can be applied to the bitten areas, or capsaicin powder can be purchased and diluted with water for application. The capsaicin in chili peppers will stimulate the oral and nasal mucosa of rats, causing a burning sensation and forcing them to abandon gnawing. If chili-based substances are ineffective, an upgrade to a combination of strong non-drying glue and sulfur powder can be considered: first apply glue to the bite marks, and then sprinkle sulfur powder when it is semi-dry. After contact, the glue will adhere to the rats' fur or skin, and the pungent odor and slight corrosiveness of the sulfur powder will further repel the rats, possibly even causing them to flee due to discomfort.
III. Precautions
- Regular Reapplication of Chili-Based Substances: Chili juice or capsaicin is volatile or can be consumed by rats through licking. It is necessary to check and reapply every 3-5 days to maintain the repellent effect.
- Caution in Using Glue and Sulfur Powder: Strong glue may leave residues on the surface of the office chair, affecting subsequent cleaning; sulfur powder is irritating, and gloves and masks should be worn during operation to avoid inhalation or contact with the skin. Ventilation should be ensured after use.
- Comprehensive Prevention and Control: Rat prevention for office chairs should be combined with overall environmental management, such as sealing gaps in the office area, regularly cleaning up garbage, and setting up rat traps, to form a multi-level protective system.
