Office Chair Racing Competition
The "Office Chair Racing Competition," also known as the Office Chair Speed Racing Competition, is an entertaining event held in multiple countries, serving multiple purposes such as charity, stress relief, and promoting urban vitality.

Event Format and Rules
Participants must slide on office chairs to compete in speed. The track length typically ranges from 30 to 200 meters, including both individual and relay races. Safety protection is a fundamental requirement, with participants required to wear helmets, knee pads, and other protective gear. Rules vary by region: Okayama Prefecture in Japan mandates the purchase of unmodified office chairs, with a 30-meter straight preliminary race and a 180-meter circular final race; Chengdu, China, organizes teams by enterprise, with each team consisting of three people (two men and one woman) competing in a relay race based on total time; Orten, Switzerland, allows participants to use self-modified office chairs, adding to the competitive fun.
Origin and History
The event originated in Bad Koenig-Zell, central Germany, with the initial purpose of raising funds for charity. Three editions of the event were held there. Subsequently, Japan, Switzerland, China, and other places introduced this format: Okayama Prefecture and Hasuda City in Saitama Prefecture in Japan, Orten in Switzerland (held on June 29, 2024), and Chengdu in China (inaugural event on June 17, 2024) have all hosted the competition. On May 23, 2025, the first Healthy Office Fun Sports Meet in Shandong introduced innovative events such as the "Extreme Chair Navigation" obstacle race and the "Chair Retreat Forward" relay race, expanding the event format.
Regional Characteristics and Significance
Germany focuses on charity, with the event in Bad Koenig-Zell directly linked to public welfare fundraising; Japan emphasizes urban vitality and stress relief, with Hasuda City in Saitama Prefecture attracting citizens through the event, and Putuo District in Shanghai designing activities specifically for white-collar workers; Switzerland highlights competitive freedom, allowing modified office chairs to enhance speed and่ง่ตๆง (viewing pleasure); China combines team culture, with the Chengdu event strengthening collaboration through enterprise relay races, and the Shandong event integrating health and entertainment through obstacle races and other projects. Additionally, the animation "Backkom Bear" has created content themed around the office chair racing competition, further expanding its cultural influence.
Cultural Extension
Office chair racing has evolved from a single event into a cultural symbol. Its characteristics of "non-traditional competition + humorous elements" have made it a new way to relieve stress in modern cities. Whether for charity fundraising, urban marketing, or corporate team building, this event demonstrates strong adaptability and vitality.
