Office Chair Quota for Government Agencies

Admin October 10, 2026

According to the standard configuration of general office furniture for central administrative units, the quota and requirements for the configuration of office chairs in government agencies are as follows:

I. Quantity and Price Quotas

  1. Maximum Quantity: Office chairs are to be allocated based on staffing levels, with a standard of 1 set per person, typically including 1 office chair per set. For example, if a unit has 50 staff members, it can be allocated 50 office chairs, and no over-allocation is allowed.
  2. Maximum Price: The price limit is set according to job levels.
    • Department-level and above: The unit price of an office chair must not exceed 1,500 yuan per unit;
    • Division-level and below: The unit price must not exceed 800 yuan per unit. The price includes acquisition costs and must be strictly controlled within the limit. No circumvention of the standard through split procurement or adding unnecessary functions is allowed.

II. Service Life and Quality Requirements

  1. Minimum Service Life: Office chairs must meet a 15-year usage cycle. If the chair has not reached the end of its service life and is not severely damaged, it must not be replaced under the guise of renewal.
  2. Configuration Principles: Office chairs must adhere to the principles of simplicity, practicality, classic durability, with priority given to structurally stable, functionally basic models. The allocation of luxury chairs with non-essential functions such as massage or heating should be avoided.
  3. Material Restrictions: The use of precious woods (such as rosewood, sandalwood, etc.) or high-end leather is prohibited. Materials for the seat and backrest should be environmentally friendly, wear-resistant, and conventional, ensuring cost-effectiveness and long-term usability.

III. Management, Supervision, and Enforcement

  1. Approval Process: The allocation of office chairs must be included in the unit's annual asset procurement plan and implemented after review by the financial department or superior authority. Unauthorized adjustments to the standard are strictly prohibited.
  2. Dynamic Supervision: An asset management system should be used to record information such as the purchase date, price, and user of each office chair, with regular checks on usage status to prevent idleness or waste.
  3. Violation Handling: For actions such as over-standard allocation or luxury decoration, responsibility will be pursued in accordance with regulations such as the Regulations on Practicing Frugality and Opposing Waste in Party and Government Organs to ensure strict enforcement of the standards.

These standards aim to regulate the use of public resources and strengthen the performance management of fiscal funds. Units must strictly implement them in accordance with actual needs to avoid extravagance and waste.
