Office Chair Quick Assembly and Disassembly
Admin October 10, 2026
The quick assembly and disassembly of an office chair can be carried out according to the following steps, with attention paid to operational specifications and safety precautions:

Assembly Steps
- Casters and Chair Base Assembly: Align the casters with the slots on the chair base, press vertically until fully embedded, and ensure each caster is securely installed.
- Gas Lift Installation: Insert the gas lift vertically into the center hole of the chair base, ensuring the bottom fits snugly against the base to prevent tilting and subsequent wobbling during use.
- Seat Plate and Seat Fixation: Use a screwdriver to fix the seat plate (which includes components for controlling height adjustment and recline) to the bottom of the seat with screws, ensuring the screws are tightened until there is no looseness.
- Backrest Connection: Align the backrest with the buckles or screw holes on the back of the seat, complete the connection by pressing the buckles or securing with screws, and for some backrests, adjust the angle before locking.
- Seat and Gas Lift Combination: Insert the assembled seat part vertically into the top of the gas lift, and a 'click' sound or confirmation of no wobbling indicates proper installation.
- Armrest and Headrest Installation: According to the design, fix the armrests to both sides of the seat with screws, and insert the headrest into the reserved hole at the top of the backrest and lock it.
Disassembly Steps
- Backrest Separation: Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws at the connection between the backrest and the seat, or press the buckles to unlock, and gently lift the backrest to detach it.
- Seat and Gas Lift Separation:
- Raise the gas lift to the highest position, hold the seat cushion with one hand, press the height adjustment lever with the other hand, and shake the base left and right to loosen the connection using the lever principle.
- If still unable to separate, invert the chair, tap evenly around the bottom steel ring of the base with a rubber mallet, or step on the five-claw part of the chair base with your foot and shake the seat cushion up and down with both hands until it falls off.
- Gas Lift and Chair Base Separation: Invert the chair base, quickly tap the bottom edge of the gas lift with a rubber mallet (or with a wooden board underneath), applying relatively large force, and avoid using a metal hammer to directly tap to prevent damage to the paint surface.
- Disassembly of Other Components: Perform operations in reverse order of assembly, use a screwdriver to loosen and remove components such as armrests and headrests, and pay attention to storing small parts like screws separately.
Precautions
- Preparation Before Operation: It is recommended to take photos to record the connection methods of various components before disassembly to avoid mistakes during reassembly; wear gloves to prevent scratches, and use a rubber mallet to avoid damage to the surface by a metal hammer.
- Gas Lift Handling: The connection between the gas lift and the chair base is relatively tight. Forced disassembly may cause deformation or air leakage, and it is not recommended unless necessary; if the gas lift needs to be replaced, it is advisable to contact a professional.
- Component Storage: Put small parts such as screws and buckles into a sealed bag to avoid loss; during reassembly, assemble in reverse order of disassembly to ensure each connection is tight and free of looseness.
