Office Chair Quality Inspection Standards

Admin October 17, 2026

Office chair quality inspection standards cover various aspects such as inspection reports, core indicators, material quality, and craftsmanship. Details are as follows:

Inspection Report Verification and Conformity Assessment

  • Report Number and Marks: The report number must match the records in the testing agency's business system and can be verified through the official website. Ensure that the CMA and CNAS seals on the report are clearly visible.
  • Information Consistency: The names of the entrusting party, product model, and manufacturing unit information must exactly correspond to the actual inspected product. The manufacturing unit name must match that on the business license. For OEM products, confirm whether the entrusting party covers the OEM factory information.
  • Standard Timeliness: The standards cited in the report must be the currently valid versions. For example, BIFMA X5.1 has been updated to the 2024 edition, and GB/T 3325 - 2017 is still in the transition period, but attention should be paid to the draft revision for 2025.
  • Original Record Relevance: Each report issued by a formal national-level quality inspection center corresponds to a unique original record. You can request the testing agency to provide original test curves or data screenshots for auxiliary verification.

Core Indicators and Assessment Red Lines for Conformity Standards

  • Stability Testing: According to GB/T 10357.2 or BIFMA X5.1, an office chair must not tip over when subjected to inclined forces in any direction. Forward stability: The chair legs must not leave the ground when a load of 102 kg is applied. Lateral stability: The armrests or seat edges must not touch the ground when a load of 102 kg is applied. Backward stability: The front legs must not lift more than 6 mm when a load of 102 kg is applied to the backrest.
  • Seat Surface Impact and Drop Testing: Seat surface impact test: A sandbag with a diameter of 200 mm and a mass of 102 kg is freely dropped from a height of 140 mm to impact the center of the seat surface. After the impact, the seat surface, backrest, and armrests must not have any fractures or permanent deformations. Drop testing is for the packaging and transportation process. The drop height is 460 mm, and each of the eight corners and surfaces is dropped once. After unpacking, check that the structural components have no cracks or weld failures.
  • Rotation Durability and Caster Wear Testing: Rotation durability test: The seat is loaded with 102 kg and rotated 360ยฐ at a frequency of 5 - 12 times per minute for 60,000 consecutive times. After that, the rotating mechanism must not have any jamming or abnormal noises. Caster wear test: The casters are loaded with 102 kg and moved on a horizontal surface at a speed of 0.33 m/s to test the caster wear.
