Office Chair Quality Inspection

Admin October 14, 2026

Office chair quality inspections are implemented differently across regions and years, with some areas having non-compliant products and clear inspection norms and testing methods in place.

Inspection Situations in Different Regions

  • Guangdong Province: In 2024, the Market Supervision Administration of Guangdong Province organized quality supervision inspections for 17 types of products, including office furniture. Among them, five office furniture products were found to be non-compliant. Although it was not specified whether all five were office chairs, it reflects certain quality issues in the office furniture sector, and office chairs, as an important part of office furniture, may also have quality risks.
  • Zhejiang Province: In 2024, the Market Supervision Administration of Zhejiang Province conducted quality supervision inspections for 116 types of products, including office chairs. A total of 5,867 batches of products were inspected, and 826 batches were found to be non-compliant. However, the specific number of non-compliant batches of office chairs was not mentioned. Nevertheless, the overall non-compliance rate was high, indicating that the quality situation of office chairs is not optimistic.
  • Anji County: In 2026, Anji County formulated detailed implementation rules for quality supervision inspections for 12 types of products, including office chairs. It stipulated that the quality supervision inspection plan, sampling, and testing work would be entrusted to the Anji County Quality and Technical Supervision and Testing Center. It clarified requirements related to the effectiveness of inspections, such as requiring at least two sampling personnel to participate and present relevant certificates to enterprises during sampling, listing situations where sampling is not allowed, and stipulating that the number of batches for testing should strictly follow the plan, providing a more standardized operational process for office chair quality inspections.

Testing Methods

Office chair testing methods cover multiple aspects and require comprehensive testing of materials, physical properties, and structural safety to ensure product quality and user safety. For example, the sensory identification method can be used to observe leather textures, with high-quality leather having natural and clear textures; touch the feel of genuine leather, which is soft and elastic; and assess breathability, with good materials having excellent breathability to make users more comfortable during use. Through these testing methods, a relatively comprehensive assessment of office chair quality can be achieved.
