Office Chair Quality Inspection

Admin October 09, 2026

The quality inspection results of office chairs show that the non-compliance rate in the sampling inspection conducted by the State Administration for Market Regulation is 14.9%, with multiple issues such as stability, caster wear, and formaldehyde emissions.

According to the national supervision and sampling inspection results of office chairs released by the State Administration for Market Regulation, a total of 101 batches of office chair products produced by 101 enterprises across the country were inspected this time, among which 15 batches were found to be non-compliant, with a non-compliance rate of 14.9%. This data indicates that the overall quality of the office chair market still needs improvement, and consumers should be cautious when making purchases.

The non-compliant items mainly focus on three aspects: stability, caster reciprocating wear, and formaldehyde emissions.
There are 7 batches of office chairs with non-compliant stability. These chairs are prone to tipping over when the user leans forward, backward, or sits sideways, which may cause injuries to consumers and pose significant safety hazards. There are 5 batches with non-compliant caster reciprocating wear items. The quality of casters is crucial to the service life of office chairs, and non-compliance in this item will directly affect the product's user experience and durability. There are 4 batches with non-compliant formaldehyde emissions. Formaldehyde is a harmful substance, and long-term exposure may cause health hazards to users, such as respiratory diseases and allergic reactions.

Anji County has released the implementation rules for the quality supervision and sampling inspection of office chairs and other products for the year 2026.
These rules formulate sampling inspection items based on relevant laws, regulations, and sampling inspection work regulations, and have timeliness and periodicity. This means that the quality supervision and sampling inspection work for office chairs is continuous and dynamic, and will be adjusted and improved according to actual situations. If there are changes in product standards, the rules will be adjusted accordingly to ensure the scientificity and effectiveness of the sampling inspection work.

For consumers, when purchasing office chairs, they should pay attention to the product's quality inspection reports and choose to buy from formal channels to avoid purchasing non-compliant products. At the same time, enterprises should also strengthen quality management, improve product quality, and provide consumers with safe, reliable, and durable office chair products.
