Office Chair Quality Defects
Common quality defects and issues in office chairs mainly include a relatively high overall failure rate, safety concerns, durability problems, environmental issues, and other problems, involving components such as gas springs, five-star bases, and casters.

High Overall Failure Rate: According to the sampling inspection results of the State Administration for Market Regulation, the failure rate of office chairs is relatively significant. For example, out of 90 batches of products inspected in 2019, 21 batches were found to be non-compliant, with a batch failure rate of 23.3%; another inspection showed that out of 101 batches of products, 15 batches were non-compliant, with a failure rate of 14.9%. This indicates that there are obvious quality issues with some office chairs on the market.
Safety Concerns: Safety is one of the core indicators of office chair quality, but some products have serious hidden dangers. For instance, if the gas spring of a pneumatic swivel chair fails to meet safety standards, it may explode due to abnormal internal pressure, causing serious harm to the user; an office chair with poor stability is prone to tipping over when the user leans forward, backward, or sits sideways, leading to falls or collision injuries.
Durability Problems: Durability directly affects the service life and user experience of office chairs. Non-compliant reciprocating wear of casters can make it difficult to move the chair or cause it to get stuck; issues such as loose mesh fabric, deformed seat cushions, and wobbly armrests will gradually emerge over time, affecting comfort and functionality.
Environmental Issues: Some office chairs have excessive formaldehyde emissions. Long-term low-concentration exposure may cause symptoms such as dizziness and fatigue, while high-concentration exposure can be toxic to the nervous system, immune system, and liver, seriously threatening the user's health.
Other Problems: Non-compliant flame retardancy may increase the risk of fire; strange noises when leaning back can affect the user experience; an improperly positioned or difficult-to-adjust lumbar support cannot provide effective support for the lower back, reducing comfort during prolonged sitting.
Common Problematic Components: As a lifting device, if the quality of the gas spring is substandard, it can easily cause an explosion; as a load-bearing component, the risk of fracture of the five-star base may cause the user to fall; poor-quality casters will accelerate wear and shorten the overall lifespan of the chair. The quality of these components directly determines the safety and durability of office chairs.
