Office Chair Quality Certificate

Admin October 12, 2026

An office chair quality certificate is a document that proves the chair meets relevant quality standards and safety requirements. It is typically issued by the manufacturer or a third-party testing organization to ensure that the chair complies with national standards and regulations during design, manufacturing, and use.

Core Content of the Certificate

  1. Manufacturer Information This includes basic information such as the name, address, and contact details of the chair manufacturer. It is used to identify the production entity and facilitate responsibility tracing. For example, if a product has quality issues, the certificate information can be used to contact the manufacturer for after-sales service or recall processing.

  2. Product Information Detailed records of the chair's model, specifications, materials, colors, and other parameters are provided. For instance, the materials should indicate whether they are environmentally friendly (such as plastics that comply with the EU REACH standard or formaldehyde-free panels), and the specifications should clearly define the size range to accommodate different user needs.

  3. Testing Standards Lists the specific standards that the chair must meet, such as the EU EN1335 standard. This standard is divided into three parts:

    • Ergonomic Size Verification: Ensures that the chair's dimensions (such as seat depth and backrest height) comply with ergonomics to prevent fatigue or injury from long-term use.
    • Full-Dimensional Stability Testing: Simulates the chair's stability under different usage scenarios, such as whether it is prone to tipping over when tilted or rotated.
    • Strength and Durability Testing: Verifies the structural reliability through pressure tests (e.g., the gas lift must withstand 120,000 cycles of 120 kg pressure).
  4. Testing Results Clearly states the chair's performance in various tests, such as whether the stability meets the standards, whether the gas lift has passed Class 4 certification (the highest safety level), and whether the fabric is wear-resistant. The results should be presented in quantitative data or grade form, for example, "Passed 50,000 fatigue tests without damage."

  5. Certification Organization Information Includes the name, address, and certification date of the certification organization to ensure that the certificate is issued by an authoritative third party. For example, SGS certification should indicate the laboratory number, and TรœV certification should display the test report number.

Common Certification Types

  • SGS/TรœV/BIFMA Certification: Focuses on safety and durability. For example, BIFMA requires the chair base to withstand dynamic load testing to ensure no risk of breakage during long-term use.
  • CE Mark: A mandatory mark for entering the European market. It must comply with the General Product Safety Directive and standards such as EN1335 and EN16139, covering requirements for stability and flame retardancy (e.g., EN1021).

The office chair quality certificate is an important basis for consumers when making purchases. It is necessary to comprehensively evaluate product reliability by combining testing standards and certification types.
